New member here. I have been lurking around for a while but had to create an account to respond to this thread. I recently sold my 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk for a 2025 Lariat Hybrid. I have been a fan of the Maverick since it was first announced in 2021. However, the options were lacking and numerous recalls deterred me from getting one... Until now. I truly believe the 2025 refresh is the model to get and I've convinced myself that now was right time to purchase a Maverick.

When I first started to build and price my 2025 Maverick, The only options that were must haves for me were AWD, Hybrid, and 4K tow package. I was not interested in the Lobo nor the Tremor, as they both could not be optioned with Hybrid powertrain. With those options in mind, let's break down the prices for each trim:
XL - $33,050 (bare bones, steel wheels). Knowing that I would replace the steel wheels immediately, that raised the price of the XL to $35,200. (Falken Wildpeaks and nicer wheels). Also, since I had heated seats and steering wheel in my Jeep Cherokee, I would like to also have those options in my Maverick. However, they were not a necessity.

XLT - $37,440. I actually like the factory wheels that come with the XLT and Lariat trims. Since bumping up to the XLT, I figured, I might as well get the options unavailable to the XL trim. With the XLT Lux package, the price was just under $3000 less than the Lariat.

Lariat- $40,300. So what do I get with the Lariat that may or may not be worth $2,900 more than the XLT? Better sound system, unique day light driving lights, bed liner, adaptive cruise control (AAC), pleather seats, sound deadening front window, and bed tie down rails with locking brackets.

If we subtract the bed liner and bed tie down rails since you could also option the XLT with those options, the Lariat is actually $2,180 more than the XLT. You can get Mabett pleather seat cover for the XLT for $250 and upgrade the XLT's sound system with a pair of 10" subs and amp for $500. So, at the end of the day, you can almost build your own Lariat out of the XLT for $1,400 less. Are the unique Lariat headlights, sound deadening front window, and AAC worth the extra $1,400? To me, they were. AAC plus lane center assist pretty much drives the Maverick for you on the highways. I also think the Lariat's front window aids in a much more comforting experience in the cabin and enhances the Lariat's sound system. Other than the looks, I'm indifferent when it comes to the Lariat 's headlights and offer no advantages over the XL/XLT headlights.

At the end, TO ME, the Lariat was/is worth $1,400 more than a similarly optioned XLT. I think the Lariat will also have a better resale value if ever I decide to part ways with my Maverick.

Have a 22 Lariat. Part of me had some buyers remorse due to the cost and I didn't think I really 'needed' the extras with the Lariat. But having it three years now, I have to say that I really am glad I got it.

The primary reason was the fake leather seats. With my job, I get dirty and it's so easy cleaning those seats than dealing with cloth seats. And the idea of putting seat covers on a truck I just bought seemed ridiculous. I know it was more, but that was my big reason for it.

Also, I got the spray in bed liner as part of the deal at the time, which I was going to get no matter what. So, some of that discounted my price for the Lariat. I do like the looks of the wheels. And keyless start is nice. I've gotten way too used to it and keyless entry (just touching the door handle). One thing I didn't realize I would like is the power slide rear window. My daughter sat in the back for years and she loved having that window open on nice days. Plus it was much quieter than her rolling down the side window.

Overall, I paid $30k for the truck everything included ($20k base, $5k for the Lariat upgrade, the full-size spare, hitch, and 110v outlet were a few hundred more, and then delivery and tax). I did not get the lux package or 360.

I've averaged over 40mpg for the life of the truck and have almost 60,000 miles on it in just over 3 years. And that includes a LOT of pulling a trailer I bought that has come in handy moving things like a lawnmower, moving furniture, going to get a dining room table I bought, helping a few people move, trash runs to the dump.

Overall, very happy. And would probably do it again.

Regret is just easier to type than "Buyers remorse".

I for one love my decision to buy the Lariat. Of course, i have had it for January+February and its my first non-cloth seats car...i might regret my decision when i am wearing shorts in August. i will put a towel (with a note on what its for) under the back seat today.
I generally have remorse for anything I spend that much on. But, I love all the features and I wouldn't be happy with a base model. Looked at other trucks for less or equal to and yes you could get a Ranger base model for about the same price. I think the Maverick is sexy and it has everything I wanted so no turning back! Love it! I think they will hold their value, although I plan to keep it until they entice me with something I can't live without.

There's a lot of talk on here and in general, online, about how the lariat isn't "worth it" and "you're turning a 20k truck into a 50k truck" etc. But has anyone genuinely regretted getting the lariat? I'm asking for 2 reasons,

1. This is anecdotal, but I would make the decision again in a heartbeat. I love it, and i love every extra little feature it includes. I think the argument that I could get a ranger for the same price is a stupid argument because I don't need the extra capability of a ranger and I want the extra features that wouldn't come with a base model ranger. It's like asking why wouldn't someone get a mustang instead of a miata. Some people just want the miata.
2. I frequently see people spend more money modifying their trucklets to copy a Lariat than had they just gone with it in the first place. 1000$ seat covers, thousands in speaker upgrades, diy wireless charging/400w bed plug etc etc. Seems like they should have just got the lariat in the first place.
What are your guys thoughts?
My 2024 Lariat was 39,000 with every bell and whistle.

Due to my being dirty/greasy getting into my truck a lot, I'll many times just have a folded cheap bath towel to put down on the seat. Worked really well when the truck sat in 95F summer sun all day and I had to get in it. Highly recommend. Works when it's incredibly cold, too.

I think it's pretty natural to have some second guessing on any major purchase.

I have absolutely no regrets. I love this truck and every feature it has. This is the first time in my 45 years of living I have ever had the top line trim vehicle. My only concern is now that I don't think I would like not having all the bells and whistles I have not, but minor problem to worry about way down the road when time for a new truck. Some people may not want all the bells and whistles and if not they can get an XL an XLT and will be happy. I definitely don't think less of anyone who does that, you have to do what makes you happy and that is the most important thing.

I purchased two new xl mavericks for under $45,700. My 22xl ecoboost $ 21,700 and my wife's 24xl hybrid 23,990. We are very happy with both.

30,000 miles on my 23 XL hybrid. I would do it the same all over again. Hybrid has been great with zero issues. Also love the XL. I don’t need all the other BS. Paid 23500 cash OTD. The maverick makes less sense to me over 30k. Waste your money the way you want. MY25 mavericks are also less appealing to me because they lost the simplicity of the buttons and I hate the big screen. And of course they jacked up the price because people want the excessive tech junk.

I do sometimes wonder what having the camera recall is like.
For me its like nothing...1. ive only see it freeze for about 1 second 1 time since I owned it 2. its a backup camera lol..you know.. years ago.. people still backed up and ..didnt have them lol.

Oh and the the question I know I wouldnt regret it... I also know id not pay "extra" for anything on the Lariat so I know I wouldnt go for it personally. When I looked down the list it was a lot of.. thats nice but I dont need it stuff.. and a lot of Oh thats nice(the stereo for instance) but do I need or want to pay for all that other stuff?? nope.. I think about it and say...I have the XLT would I want to pay another 1K+ for anything the Lariat has over what I have... no.. not really... but it was the same as the XL... it just didnt have enough of the stuff I like without special ordering it or just finding one like that..

that's your must-have feature, a windshield with an extra polycarbonate layer?

I've had both, can't say that I noticed much difference in sound. I did however notice that if you don't use the OEM Lariat windshield, you don't get wiper defrosters, so on my second replacement I made sure they used the Soundscreen unit.

Totaled my 2024 XL Hybrid on Valentine’s Day, my fault, 14000 miles getting ready for its 3rd oil change. I loved the truck. Only Hybrid available in the Taxachusetts area was scheduled to arrive in New England in the next few days was arriving at my dealer. It was a 2025 Ruby Red Lariat with all the extras. MSRP $42620 When it arrived I went to look, loved the color. Dealer was asking 3K over MSRP. Walked out !!!! Salesman called me the next day and said the boss was willing to drop it to $2000 over MSRP. I had spent all the previous day trying to locate a 2025 AWD hybrid in my area with no success. Not one was available, a couple were coming in soon?????, we will find you one….etc. Needed a vehicle to get to work so I bit the bullet and paid the premium, just like when you buy a 2025 Corvette or a Toyota in 1973 during the Energy Crisis.. supply and demand . Have had it for a month, 1000 miles and it is growing on me.
Following options:
Blackout package: $1995, overpriced but I like the black wheels and Goodyear tires. Wish they weren’t low profile 19”. Would rather 17” or 18”s. I live on a dirt road with lots of potholes. The full size spare isn’t really full size, it’s a 17”. False advertising
Panoramic sunroof $995, waste of a thousand dollars does let the sun shine in!
4K tow package $775 with trailer brake. I don’t think I’ll ever need it which my 500 lb utility trailer. The 2K was more than adequate.
Black plastic seats. I think we used to call that material naugahyde… not leather…Naugas must be on the endangered species list now . They do look much nicer than the cloth ones in my XL and easier to clean muddy paw prints.
My dog loves the power rear window.
Was disappointed that I only have one usable bed cubby
Spray in bed liner in my XL held up well so happy with that option. Bought a bed cover from Temu anyway. Before the tariffs!
Talk radio sounds the same as it did in the XL and because of the rear speaker had to mount my gun safe in a new location. Mats and carpets from the XL fit so now I have the only 2025 with both. Still had to pay the $135
I have to admit the heated steering wheel and seats feel good on my 72 year old arthritic abused mechanics body.
Hopefully the old man package …see lower right tailgate pic: adaptive cruise, lane warning ect will keep me out of future trouble.
Im only getting 36MPG combined but that about the same as my wife’s 2019 Hybrid RAV IV
As I stated earlier, I do love the color. It is probably the only option I would have ordered had I had one built, that and the AWD nice addition here in snow country until Global Warming takes effect.
It’s a proven fact that you can’t take it with you and it is a classy looking “ALMOST a truck”. It’s growing on me and I guess if I waited I would have end up paying the chicken tax like we did on imported trucks in the 70’s
Overall I am actually very happy with my Mav . Especially since the driver door doesn’t lock by itself like it did on my XL!!!
Amazed that for $42K you don’t get an owner’s manual!!!!

I concur that the Lariat is a very expensive trim line.

But I have no regrets buying the Lariat. I am older and this is one of the few luxuries on which I have splurged.
