Higher temps always mean better mileage. Way back when we had a Rabbit diesel. In the winter mileage would drop into the 20s. In the summer when temps nudged 100 we would get better than 50 mpg. If you are running those tire pressures in the summer you are asking for troubl
Interesting VW story: I was maybe 15 ( you could drive at 14 in Idaho) and about to take a girl on our first date. Was going to use my parents 58 VW. The day of the date the fuel pump went out. Dad said no problem. He said the gas tank was higher than the engine so as long as I kept gas up in...

Back in the 90s a friend of our daughter was driving home from college when she had a flat about 50 miles from home. The doughnut spare was supposed to be good for 100 miles at 35 mph. She figured if that was the case she could drive 70 mph for 50 miles! Thankfully she survived.

Does anyone know a way I can add chrome stacks behind the cab like an 18 wheeler? And maybe an oogah horn and fake white sidewalls like we had back in the 1950s
And yes I’m being sarcastic
Had a 1973 VW 412 which boasted a solid state fuel injection system. Installed a CB and took it out for a test drive. Every time I keyed the mike the engine quit!
