A F150 is useless to me as it cannot fit in my garage.

I also don't want to own a technological POS.

I love Android Auto, Blind Spot detection, rear camera backup, cross traffic warning, auto collision detection/braking, adaptive cruise etc
Are you running a lawn care business??

Either they park their trailer in their garage or park everything outside. My neighbor actually runs a lawn care company and parks his truck outside and trailer in he garage.

I am retired.

I park my Maverick in my garage for protection from the elements including hail and the sun.

My avatar picture was to show it off. I alway park it in the garage.

If you read the post i responded to you'll see why I wrote what I did.

This doesn't apply to your situation.

I also park mine in the garage, vehicles last much longer when they are. When I park for an extended time outside I put sun shades in every window as well.

Yes it is hedging your bet and you just proved my point.

Fords $30k EV will be before destination charge which you just clarified exactly like the $19,995 Maverick was so your bet really wasn't really a bet that you could lose.

Not everyone likes a bare bones poverty vehicle like the XL. I disliked the appearance of the steel wheels and absolutely needed cruise control and more comfortable seats.

Thus I went with the XLT and added : Co-Pilot360 + Rear Sliding Window + 110V/400W Outlet in Cab.

I have no problem paying $36k (including destination charge) for an XLT version of the EV Truck with a few added features. I want to enjoy driving it not grimacing every time I am in it)
I’ll crap my pants just for you when you can’t get an XLT version for $36k either….

Also let me know when you successfully negotiate not paying the destination charge.

I will absolutely buy an EV Maverick
Its what I wanted before I bought my current Maverick.

I was all in on a Lightning but in the end, it was just too big a truck for me and th maverick was a bridge until a compact EV comes out.

We are still in a transition to EV’s but have hit a temporary political setback.

If anyone is reading about how China is DOMINATING the EV market and the rest of the world is following, except the US, you will know where we are actually heading.

I park outside, no garage, My Mav is not a garage queen. It’s a Truck !

I’ll trade up in 4 or 5 years anyway, while it still has good trade in value.
I like driving fairly new toys.

But I will admit if it remains a flawless cream puff I’ll keep it a bit longer.

Where do the apartment dwellers plug in at night? 400 cars in the lot and no charging?

Poverty vehicle, I will assume you have no idea how stuck up you sound saying that.

Self Importance is an awful burden.
Holding yourself above others is terrible.
8 million Jews died because of that way of thinking.
You need to contemplate this on the,
“Tree Of Woe”
Conan the Barbarian.
Shame on you.

I know a guy with a poverty XL. He chose to have kids. The two of them are priceless.
He is far more wealthier than I.
He loves his Mav.
His payment is half what mine is.

The lowest operating cost truck will probably end up being a well used Ford F150 or similar with cheap insurance that is beat to hell but easily fixed with cheap, massively available parts.
Depends on a lot of factors when it makes sense to buy new vs. used for a business, but it certainly is true that depreciation of trucks is low (comparatively) while it's been terrible for EVs. Problems with battery duty cycles and management systems are solved though, so a lot of of the reliability problems with EVs are self inflicted over complications (like hidden door handles), or just the fact that in America they are still mostly luxury vehicles with luxury features.

Makes a lot of sense for some types of businesses to run an electric pickup / van. One that I thought was very interesting was a lawn care business that uses all electric mowers and trimmers. Plug that equipment into the truck, plug the truck in, and that's it for power. No gas, no gas cans, no noise, a lot less equipment maintenance.

End of the day though, EVs will be cheaper to make for the same reason a quartz watch is much cheaper to make than a mechanical one.

WTF

The XL Maverick has been referred to as that many many times by others here on the forum.
I never took offense to that term as It means the bare bones cheapest cost.

I do think that more than price Hyundai's issue was that they weren't willing to allow poverty spec trucks with the turbo 4 and they weren't willing to allow luxury buyers to pick the natural aspirated option if they didn't trust turbos (also the turbo only came with the DCT that had a terrible reputation, Hyundai did remedy that at the end by replacing it with a planetary 8 speed auto) Combine that with no hybrid option and Ford ran away with the segment.

22 Poverty model, happens to me about once a month at random. When I park in the garage, the key's left in the ignition nearly every time. Last time was a few days ago with the key in my hand as I opened the door.
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/seat-comfort.76655/#post-1261979

I couldn’t figure out why the seats felt mediocre at best until I measured our other cars’ seat bottom cushions. Long story short, the Maverick uses really small bottom cushions, even compared to small cars like my wife’s poverty-spec trim Prius. Adding neoprene covers helped a bit for me, but the bottom line is that the seats are relatively narrow with a foam density that is a little soft and not very thick as vehicle seat foam goes. The P (and our other econocar) have a wider seat bottom with denser foam that is vastly more comfortable on a long drive.

My son told me it was a “Poverty Slot” because I was too poor to get the options that would go there. Haha
From poverty vehicle to The Holocaust way to go to an extreme far far away that is no way correlated.

I work for the blue oval.
They are 100% committed to this and are trying to write a new future.

it’s about better designed assembly process, from start to finish, drastically fewer recalls, and higher profit margins.

the company is still all in on EV/autonomous fully linked network for a future vision

it was 1 step back to take 2 big steps forward.
Also the platform is to be interchangeable, I.e. this “new model t” to a SUV, car potentially, anything they want on this new simpler BEV chassis.
It’s exciting, gas will still be around for decades though

I wish Ford would spend a little time solving the parasitic drain problem on my hybrid Maverick before they work on this...guess I'm just selfish.

What size garage do you have? We can park both our Maverick and our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4x4 Double-Cab Worktruck Edition with an 8 ft. bed in our 2-car attached garage at the same time. An F-150 would leave room to spare. Guess they aren't making full size attached garages anymore.
