My second EFB battery won't charge more than 65% or so. Maybe the third battery is the charm...
Might stop by an auto parts store to see if they can test it for me.

EXACTLY!!Similar to my electrical system, most of the times the start/stop disabled by the system due to not enough charge in the battery. The battery also does not hold the charge in my case. After driving the truck for 10 - 15 minutes and the alternator fills up the battery enough, the system may, or may not enable the start/stop 1-2 times, then disables it again. It's a crappy battery...
While I test the battery myself, you had a good idea, and will take it to a parts store. My second EFB battery won't charge more than 65% or so. Maybe the third battery is the charm...

Ah,so a bad battery from the factory.glad it's covered under warranty!Negative!! Defective. Nothing is killing it. The voltage is just low enough to prevent the stop start from working. That is enough for a warranty exchange..
Ford batteries are good with a great warranty. Call your parts dept and order your battery, you won’t have to pay for it. Get it in, then if you need one it will be in stock and you can release it to yourself under warranty. Cheap easy insurance. I’ve done it before and it works. Good luck. Also test system to see if it is causing batt failure.AGM batteries last 3 - 4 years, depending on number things, including driving...
The battery in my truck does not hold the charge:

Getting the battery replaced by the dealer is a crapshot. They may, or may not have it in stock in which case, it needs to be ordered. Based on my research for the OEM battery, even Ford website has it back ordered. With that stated, the truck is going into service next Friday in case they have one, or can get one in reasonable time frame.
Winter is just around the corner and I would not want to go into it with a crappy battery. The third-party batteries are batter than the OEMs and I want to change it. I've been changing batteries in my vehicles ever since I have one, was just looking for any "gotchas" in changing this battery....
Thx...
I just replaced the exact battery in my 17 escape. It was the originalThe battery should last 8-9 years, curious why you would want to replace it already?
Very interesting video. From what that guy says my trips of 15-30 minutes may not be enough to charge my battery even if I drive every day because of the electrical demands of the vehicle and the charging limits established by Ford. That may be what my service advisor was trying to get at although he did not provide anything close to the info in the video nor did he ever call me back.In my previous post, I didn't know the purpose of the wiring between the positive and negative terminals of the battery. The video below pretty much cleared it up for me:
There are some interesting details on how to charge/jump start a Ford vehicles equipped with Battery Monitoring System, or BSM.
Some other interesting details is, that Ford sets the limit for charging the battery with the BSM, around 75 - 80% based on this Rangers forum posting. Adjusting the limit to 90% via ForeScan resolved some of the similar issues in the Rangers. The chances are the same could be done in the Maverick as well with similar results.
These are good to know and may just use ForeScan for increasing the charge limit...
Same - Fords AGM batteries have been failing. I was almost stuck in BFE due to a 5 month old AGM losing a complete cell -Bought my EB back in December of '21 . I have had my battery replaced twice under warranty (Most recent 11/1/23) Both times with the newer AGM ford battery.
Thanks for posting this.In my previous post, I didn't know the purpose of the wiring between the positive and negative terminals of the battery. The video below pretty much cleared it up for me:

I don't disagree, but Ford and others will keep doing this for a few reason.Ford needs to figure it out. No one should have to keep charging their battery on a $75,000 truck just because they do not drive 2 hours a day to go to work. Gimmee a friggin' break here.
I am glad that the video helped....I did charge overnight so maybe the Ford failsafe caught me doing the charging incorrectly and had the BMS software update because of that.
I also did manually reset the BMS to relearn the battery charge state.
Thanks for finding and posting that very informative video. So far I've never had any issues at all but if i were to have any battery related concerns i would have been charging the old school incorrect way with this new technology. Now i know the correct process. In my previous post, I didn't know the purpose of the wiring between the positive and negative terminals of the battery. Being lazy today, NFL Sunday, etc., how do you reset the BMS manually?
Thx...
When they replaced the original standard battery with an AGM I was happy and thought that should fix the issue but less than a year later same problem. Who makes FoMoCo AGM batteries? Anyone know?Same - Fords AGM batteries have been failing. I was almost stuck in BFE due to a 5 month old AGM losing a complete cell -
