12V Battery replacement under warranty

I just want to share my service appointment I've had today with my 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid XLT

My interior lights weren't operating automatically when you get in the car or turn off the car. Only they would turn on if you toggle the switch manually.
Brought it to Ford service and they diagnosed low voltage for the 12V battery and replaced it under manufacturers warranty.
Honestly I thought they will give me hard time for battery being wear and tear item and I would have to pay for it out of pocket but it was free of charge

Hey good for you. I had mine replaced twice on my previous '22 XLT. And now once more on my '24 Lariat but only after a fight. As long as you're under the 3/36 the warranty should continue to cover it. Of course everyone agrees we should not have to be dealing with this long known issue but here we are. I had mine replaced in my 23 XL Hybrid last fall. I kept getting the battery saver notification and interior lights not coming on when I opened the door.
My dealer checked it and it was bad. They put a new one in no questions asked.

Hopefully they told you about the upcoming software update for intermittent battery drain, that is upcoming?? I had a new battery installed every winter, for the past 3 years, under my 3/36... SSM 53087 2022-2024 Maverick - FHEV - Intermittent 12V Battery Drain When The Ignition Is Turned Off - keep in touch with them to get this done...

No they didn't say anything about the software update. I found that its crazy battery would only last 1 year. There is definitely some sort of drain. Hopefully the update will sort things out. Good luck

Are they replacing it with the same non agm battery or are they upgrading to an agm battery??

At twice the price, Ford will not put in an AGM battery under warranty unless it came with one. The 25 models have switched to AGM as part of their huge price increase, but while it has better cranking power for the EcoBoost, its a pretty big waste of money on the Hybrid.

They put in the same battery in my case.

They replaced mine with the same EFL battery type, but with a bit higher reserve capacity and made in a different country.

I've had my 23 lariat's batter replaced 3x already. The 3rd replacement was more of a fight because they claimed the battery management system just needed to be reset. of course that day when I got home the notice was received and interior lights didn't work. I brought it back and said it's still happening. then they claimed the battery was bad. last time it was replaced was in October. yesterday I got my first notice of battery preserve mode after a long drive. kind of annoying. only thing I hate about this truck is the battery issue. everything else is flawless to me.

Our 22 XLT has the original 12v. MaV was delivered late December 21, so battery is at least 44 months old. Guess I’ll bite the bullet and get a new battery. Of course, I’d like an AGM. Optima doesn’t appear to have a replacement. Saw several batteries that fit but unfamiliar with the brand.

Judging from the responses and input of a number of members, it appears that investing in a more expensive AGM battery may not yield the return on value that you may be hoping for. In my opinion and especially in your case, if your factory battery made it this long you should reasonably expect an OEM replacement to meet your needs.
Many of us including myself have been dealing with a weird battery depletion issue in our hybrids that nobody seems to understand. In response, some but not all members that have opted for the AGM battery type have reported a resolution to their battery saver mode dilemma. I am personally waiting optimistically for the software update the Ford engineers are working on to solve this problem. We'll see about that. But as for you, save your pesos and stick with the old flooded.
