So I had a similar problem with my 2016 Silverado. I was on the highway and the Speedo went from 60 to 0 back to 60 and then the CEL came on. Had a total loss of power. I restarted the truck and it was OK. Happened a few more times and I would just reset the CEL. It was a lease and I have the truck back but I remember looking into it and back then I had my email setup with Onstar. I got an email I guess when the new owner brought it to the dealership and it said the transmission speed sensor needed to be replaced. Hopefully that’s all you have too. But sucks you have to wait to get it fixed.

As they say, sh-t happens. It might be something small and simple like you describe. In any case, if somebody has a new vehicle and it starts giving them problems what do they do? Search the internet, which inevitably leads them to forums like this one. So everyone with a problem posts here.

The failure rate might be 0.00001% of all vehicles, well below what any reasonable person would think is acceptable, but you hear about ALL of them here.

And why do you think the dealer cares if you were to successfully lemon law your truck?

Follow up question: do you get a lot of positive results threatening businesses you interact with?

If you so desire, you can do the following. Have the truck towed to your preferred dealership. Inform them that the time spent there waiting on them will count toward the time necessary for a lemon law claim. (Note, I would verify this with a lawyer first). I would also inform Ford Motor Company of this as well, since they are the ones who would be forced to buy it back.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I've worked in numerous dealerships in several capacities, too. I don't buy the month wait just to have it "looked at." There's little reason they can't provide some sort of basic automotive triage for new vehicle tow-ins. Heck, we're booked pretty solid for weeks and have numerous lifts tied up with vehicles that have engines or transmissions out of them waiting for parts; yet we still manage to get 95% or better of the tow-ins evaluated with a couple days, if not the first day it's on our lot.
I bet if you called Ford customer service and complained that your making payments on a new truck which is sitting dead on the dealers' lot and they claim they can't even look at it for a month, they'd be calling and asking; "why not?"
Why are the dealers so backed up? Is it a supply chain issue or manpower issue?

I have to say it's a little of many things. There's a lot of recalls, lots of backordered parts, lots of other supply issues, and not as many skilled technicians as there used to be in the workforce. Surprisingly we have a good number of younger kids which have come onboard to become techs, but they don't have the experience to be doing transmissions, engines, and complicated electrical issues. Also, many of the younger ones who are more capable and can't get paid what they believe they should be leave for other shops too.
Additionally, we have several of the younger ones who plan on moving south once they get more experience and have certification, so I see this as a problem with manpower that is likely to exist for some time.

I feel sorry for anyone paying $700 a month on a maverick.
Mine is almost $800. Lariat Lux financed 100%, 36 months at 0%. Why put anything down or buy it outright when you can borrow someone else’s money for 3 years at no cost? Soon to add a similar sized Bronco payment as well.

While you were camping did not ran hard and did you drive thru deep water or streams? I had a Ford auto (I've had 17) in 1986-7 and it was less than a year old. I was driving home on an interstate going 75 in a 65 with cruise control on. I hit several inches of water, hydroplaned a bit but kept it on the road but suddenly the cruise shut off, it seemed, the car slowed to 65 and it held there ok. I tried to reset the CC to go back up to 70-75 but it would not allow me to. I drove back to town okay but as I was parallel parking the car and I shifted from drive to reverse, the engine revved to max and it burned rubber until I slammed on the brakes. I shut off the ignition, put it into park. This was witnessed by a cop who questioned my driving technique. I told him what was going on and he stood by as I restarted the car. Immediately it went full throttle and the gas pedal went to the floor while both my feet were outside the car. I tried twice more - Shut off, restart and it went back to normal. I drove it to the Ford dealer and it acted up like this, twice more. I reported the problem, the dealer called FMC and Ford flew an engineer from Dearborn to investigate the "Unintended acceleration" issue. The Audi "UA" issue was around that same time. The eyewitness officer was even contacted to verify my story. They had my vehicle for three weeks while I was in a loaner. They discovered a problem in the engine compartment and cruise control module that showed evidence of water infiltration. They told me they did not replace anything but used a silicone sealant around the items that leaked. It ran fine for another year and I traded it in for another lease car from Ford. I - hope they sort your issue out.

Welp. My transmission is dead I think. I was coming back home from camping and driving at a steady 75 using cruise control (speed limit is 70 out here). Noticed the transmission was holding a low gear for some reason as I was going down hill, and when the grade went flat the truck started slowing down which I thought weird, cruise control is still on. After slowing to 70 it suddenly rev'd up to redline for a split second like it got popped into neutral. I got the little wrench icon and the truck said to service soon. It seemed to work fine for a bit after that and I was fairly close to home so I decided to limp it. It was doing ok but once I came to a stop for my exit, it shuddered a lot trying to move like driving a manual with a really grippy clutch. It got worse from there and started slipping under almost any amount of power and hunting for gears so I babied the throttle and limped it home. It did ok when the rpms were below 2k rpm so that's where I stayed and accelerated extremely slowly.

It acted a lot like there was no transmission fluid in it, but the underside was dry from what I could see. I haven't abused the truck, it wasn't hot out, and have only towed twice with this thing. It gave no indication of failing besides those last dozen or so miles. Don't off-road it, don't drive in sand, just gravel roads a few times getting to camp. Completely stock.

RIP, it'll take a month just to get an appointment and probably another couple months for them to figure it out and get parts. Why me...
Did you end up towing it to dealer?

Sitting in the yard, waiting for my appointment. Driving around my project car is kinda fun so I'm not making a fuss about rentals or anything.

This thread on the other hand, y'all need to relax a bit...

That is literally the only time it would make sense.

Hah, same boat. I literally walked into the dealership undecided on my loan term and then said, "Sure, sign me up for 0% for 36 months."
