I think the driver door autolock feature was mentioned in the Superman comic that introduced the Bizarro world, where the feature made sense... Otherwise, not so much.

On the plus side, the thread continues onto to page 10 .... It ain't dead yet!
Which has more, “Which oil and filter”, or “Why does my door lock me out”? 🤔😉

Congratulations ! You got this thread over the page 10 threshold!
As far as which has more, the comparison becomes meaningless as both approach infinity..

The thing is, with oil and filter threads. There are variables, personal preferences, opinions and a lot of antidotal stories.
The perceived "Auto locking" of the driver's door does not happen as a function of the Maverick. There are no variables to it. It is only a perception of something happening that cannot.

I thought mine was doing the same thing until after reading some of the other posts on this site. I found out I was the culprit. I open the door and ever so slightly (it doesn't take much) my hand brushes the manual lock tab right above the lever. Moves it just a tiny bit, but enough to set the lock on. I would come out the next morning to a locked truck! Started checking everytime I closed the door and I was in fact locking it myself about half the time. Try checking and see if it's locking soon as you exit the truck! Good luck.

Glen Baker is correct. I can't tell you guys how many times I locked the driver door without intending to. Okay, I am old and just not the brightest star in the night sky, but I am trainable. I haven't inadvertently lock my door in the last 18 months, give or take a month or two. My next goal is to discover what causes the double honk or very rare occasions.

Thanks guys...... I do not know about the.. locking lever.. but I will look for it tomorrow..... why would you need a locking lever..... and why would you only want to only lock the driver door...
I had a 1964 Falcon Sprint that you could only lock the doors by pushing the lock button down on each door. You had to pull them up on each door you wanted open or use the key in the door lock, which push the lock button up and allowed you to open the door. No more buttons but the lock lever works exactly the same way. Just a manual lock.
