Hey Timothyd, I have seen your posts over the past year or more (what I think of as The Great Wait) and I am so glad to hear that your "ship" has come in. Congratulations! Fair winds and following seas to you and yours.I've had mine a couple of weeks after waiting 16 months and I'm very happy with it. It's just the ticket and an excellent performer.
That's the windshield that's ticking.yes and no, love the mileage and utility, hate the rattling dash and wind whistling noise from the right front window.
Great post and reinforces what I always say. It is YOUR money, so spend it like you wish and can afford. I made 76 Tuesday and have bought two Mavericks. I was a bit more fortunate to get my EB for $3K over and more fortunate to get my wife's Hybrid for $2,500 over, but would do it all over again. My Lariat Hybrid is due at end of month, having already shipped, and I am delivering my 6 month old EB with 4,500 mi on it, this afternoon. I sold it to a dealer for $3,400 over msrp, so dang it, I only made $400. Yes, I actually lost money due to TTL, but would do it all over again.
Continue to enjoy your Maverick. I have owned many trucks over the years, and the Maverick is by far my favorite.
No- if I decide to get rid of my old faithful B2000 long bed I will feel that way. I hope to find someone to give it a good home and will use it like I did.I picked my Maverick up on Monday afternoon. I really like it, however, the only remorse that I have is that I had to write a big check! I am a saver, so anytime I spend money I have some level of remorse. I have not sold my current truck that I bought new 17 years ago. It just sits there and somehow I feel like I have betrayed her. Does this sound weird to any of you? I know once I sell it and I do not have to look at it sitting there all lonely I will be fine. The Maverick is a great vehicle and really zippy. I real fun truck to drive.
After I delivered my EB to the buyer, we only have my wife's XLT Hybrid. The way I got both of mine was to be aggressive and look hard. I knew I would have to pay over msrp, but was more than willing to do so to get one. Actually hers (the XLT hybrid wound up costing less than the $2,500 over because the dealer had the windows tinted, graphics put on the side and a DIBL and did not charge us. It actually brought it down to about $1,800 over. As far as the replacement for my EB, I ordered a Lariat Hybrid loaded the day the order banks opened in 9/22. I guess I drew a lucky number and know some who ordered in 21 are still waiting. You must have an inside track to have (or soon to have) 3 Mavericks when many can’t even get one!
I definitely get annoyed by the hood scoop and how the wipers are situated. You can't easily lift the wipers when the weather is bad, and SO MUCH SNOW collects in the scooped out area, I'm surprised that a cold weather company designed something so unfriendly to winter weather. I also wish the wipers had adjustable speeds or at least one more setting between the slowest and the next setting.I've had mine (Lariat 2.0) 3 months and have almost 3,000 miles. Definitely things I don't like. The wipers don't lift far enough, so they freeze to the window. The gap between the hood and window is huge and gathers snow. The temperature control lights reflect off the back window. At night, it always looks like I have red and orange lights behind me. Engine sounds like it has a vacuum leak with loss of power at initial acceleration. Yesterday, it had a real loud, metal on metal sound from the engine - twice.
Not Impressed.
Thanks! This vehicle really has to be earned and desired. Not for the faint of heart. Unless, of course, you're willing to pay well over MSRP. And, you're taught patience. (Not going to give Ford credit for that though) Now I'm looking forward to a meetup here somewhere in Northern Illinois. Wishing you luck.Hey Timothyd, I have seen your posts over the past year or more (what I think of as The Great Wait) and I am so glad to hear that your "ship" has come in. Congratulations! I sold my old truck to a guy that has a moving company. It will be taken care of and we'll maintained. I could not have picked a better person to sell it to.No- if I decide to get rid of my old faithful B2000 long bed I will feel that way. After all, Mazda is Ford spelled sideways...That’s awesome! I bought mine from a buddy of mine for $600 about 3 years ago. It needed a good amount of work, as it continues to need. But I put about 400-500 miles a week and she keeps going!
