Yeah, it'll be... interesting in a couple of weeks here. I can see the thread title for June 5th now: "WTF happened to my order?"
It's resigned amusement. This is easy mode, but you know dealers will screw it up. People will come on the forum to complain and there is nothing they can do about it by then. We can tell people to get to their dealers but there are roughly 35,000 outstanding orders and not all of them visit here.Love the guy eating popcorn.
But there should be more horror on his face.
Watching Ford do this Maverick fiasco debacle is like watching a 5 car accident in slow motion.
And I think this is only about the 3rd car.
Seriously, why do we even have to know terms like DORA and COVP, just make the GD trucks.
We all know way way more than the salespeople and managers at the dealerships just to try to ensure we get this truck.
Whenever I have asked something I don't know of them, I first have to explain the 3 or 4 points the question is even based on.
Now I have to go in there and try to explain this to them. Jeez.

And you did nothing wrong.Yeah, I'm one of those guys that ordered 2 trucks - at 2 different dealers. And I want just one.
You can think of me as a miserable SOB but I believe
I had reasons to.
With Ford being so "not forthcoming" in this "system".
I read many comments on here - "I ordered early on the first day you could order a 2023" - that means NOTHING. Or, I ordered at a big dealer or small dealer - that means NOTHING. I stripped my truck down to nothing to get it - again means nothing. There is no telling how they decide to build. Many are cynical and think they will build the upper trim levels with the added packages first as they make more proifit - or more pragmatic they think they will build the stripped down base models.
Constraints, alocations, dealer choice, time you ordered - it's all just us trying to make sence out of a nonsensical system. They won't tell us hoiw they decide what to build and when.
Yeah, I was there at 9AM the first day, then 10AM at a second dealer.
I ordered 2 trucks.
Wow.I asked my salesperson for two things.
1) Would he confirm that the COVP was actually entered on my order
2) Can he give me my current priority code?
Below is his answer. Does this make any sense?
""I ordered 4 mavericks the same day i ordered yours 3 of the 4 orders got picked up yours was one of the 3 the # your seeking is T001 They started building T002 today so it shouldnt be much longer on yours hope this help"" (unedited)
I'm assuming this was his text message response. But it sounds like yours was scheduled. They should be able to give you a week it is scheduled to be built. MY truck has gone from 6/6 to 6/9 to 6/8 to 6/6. So, same week of scheduling and that is just using the info I have.I asked my salesperson for two things.

not true ford reguired the dealer to go through a proces that reguired so time for there approval this was not "REQUIRED"I will follow up with my sales person tomorrow, but I remember a conversation we had while he was entering my order where he asked for some information (I believe my DL was part of it). He mentioned that Ford was requiring more information to prove the order was actually for a customer as some dealerships were putting in orders for non-existing customers to get vehicles onto the lots. I assume this was for the COVP?
I'm not sure the COVP will stop that. Even my dealership only asks you at least put it in your name first to keep their own paperwork at a minimum. All the COVP really does is prevent the dealership from ordering them as retail for themselves to mark up.My local Facebook Marketplace is suddenly alive with people offering new Mavs for sale, asking prices beyond what Carvana or similar would offer. It appears a goodly number have landed in people's hands who just want to turn around and sell them. Free country and all that, I get it, but if Ford is making this move at least partly to actually get trucks in the hands of individuals who WANT the truck, to drive every day, well then party on, Ford . I applaud that effort.
Ok but can’t one someone have multiples as long as covp they’re still in, didn’t indicate that ,only that covp requiredExactly, so they can get a handle on how many real orders there are left to build. Hopefully find the people with orders at multiple dealers trying to game the system so they can shut them down.
That was at I just replied as well it’s not multiples it’s covp for them ,I don’t think it’s going to thin out that much really, dealers have this memo for what’s it’s worth of coarseWhen I ordered in September 2022 the sales manager said he had to enter my order twice and the second time asked for my license so he knew what he was doing. Only fair because I was the one that told him when the order window was opening which I learned here. I would say they are a good dealer because they charged me MSRP, did not make me take any extras, and the timeline was just about what I expected.
I'm not sure this new procedure will eliminate purchasers of multiple vehicles. As long as they are qualified to buy they should stay in the system. I don't think Ford wants to get into trying to limit buyers to one vehicle or if that would even be legal.
Yes,yes however they still ordered using there employees driver’s license . Admited that to me right here in town 5 ordersI'm not sure the COVP will stop that. Even my dealership only asks you at least put it in your name first to keep their own paperwork at a minimum. All the COVP really does is prevent the dealership from ordering them as retail for themselves to mark up.
Hummmmm private offer switch of lariat Tremor to AWD PLUG-IN SOLAR CELL WRAPPED HYBRID = YES!!!I wonder if this is also setting up for private offers/order rollovers like we saw for 22->23. With all the hybrid orders that won't get built, presumably a lot more than last year, this may be preparation for a substantial price increase for MY24 orders.
