Third time my truck has come off the track going thru the car wash.
Trying to figure why.
2025 XLT AWD hybrid.
Truck in neutral, , about half way thru back wheel off roller.
They stop the car was, I need to put truck in drive then bump back onto roller.
Could it be caused by the brake issue that the recall is about?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

It matters to the truck if you have your seatbelt on or not.

It matters to the truck if you open the drivers door or not while in N.

It may also matter if you have a recall issue. I don't have any information regarding the recall.

Oh yes... it matters if the auto-hold button is on or not. It functions in N.

The truck is doing what its supposed to do, preventing it from running away down a hill for example. You are not putting the truck into neutral-tow mode to allow it to be dragged along the track without putting the brakes on. Alternatively you could latch the driver seatbelt and put it in neutral, and that would allow it to make it through an automated carwash without you being in control.

It does not need ANYTHING special if the driver stays in, stays buckled, and does not open the driver's door.

The truck NEVER needs "neutral tow mode" for a car wash.

The truck does need activate the up to 30 minutes car wash mode if sent through a carwash unoccupied. Which lasts you guessed it... up to 30 minutes.

Put in N.
Press L after.

Do both before removing seat belt and before opening the door.
That's car wash mode.

I never wash my truck myself.
I always use a tunnel car Wash. Truck is in neutral never touch the low button.
Be interesting to know what style of car wash is being used. The newer flat belt style or traditional bar guide?

I have, on occasion, used a tunnel wash type car wash...zero issues going through. 2025 Lariat hybrid AWD here.

One time.

It was human error.

I had unknowingly pushed the autohold button. Something I don't routinely use.

It will put the brakes on in both Drive and Neutral and hold the brakes if the wheels stop turning.

If you open the driver's door with no seat belt fastened it will go one step farther and put the truck in park.

I have taken our 2025 AWD Hybrid Lariat through a traditional tunnel automated car wash dozens of times with no issues. I always have the autohold button on but I don't press the brake pedal hard enough to active it. I always put the gear selector in N and press the L button for neutral hold. I am always in the car with it running and my seat belt on.

Get to the end, tap the brakes, move the gear selector to D and drive off.

I haven’t used a track or conveyor belt carwash with my Maverick but my 2025 Subaru Forrester recommends turning off the ACC prior to entering one of these carwashes because it will activate the brakes and the vehicle could jump the track or break the chain or conveyor belt inside the carwash
