Thanks, seem to have conflicting ideas on this. Sometimes means you can't trust it. I worked a car wash and a few times I seen the cars brake lights come on the roller ran under the car. Another time one jumped the track. That was a mess.
Put the Maverick in Neutral and make sure Auto Brake is off. Have used auto car wash for past 3 years and have had no issues. I did replace the antenna with a stubby. Just seemed to be inviting trouble with it being so tall. Cars jumping the track is pretty rare.

I have no issues when sitting in the car. It's when you have to get out. Must press the L button

Man, I only got a year of free truck washes for 6 months :(
And here we figured that, because everything is big in Texas, you'd have gotten 18 months!

The ACC should be turned off so it doesn’t apply the brakes when approaching the mechanical brushes at least it’s a requirement for the 2025 Subaru with ACC if the brakes lock as stated before it can jump the track or break the conveyor belt or chains

i prefer touchless washes or hand washing it myself in my driveway

For "Leaving"? Seriously, I wasn't aware that was necessary. I've never done that. I thought your original post was a concern about having one of the car wash workers sitting in your truck.

Nah, there are a few where the truck goes through unattended. I still haven't taken it to one like that.

I actually never thought of that. My wife's 2019 Forrester goes throgh fine.

I recommend hand washing any vehicle where you want the paint to stay nice long term. Those drive-thru car washes are pretty rough on paint. It won’t kill it immediately but over time it will look worse and require more elbow grease to fix

The one I prefer to go to. Runs the car down the track, with a bunch of guys with sponges washing the car. But that is to far away, so I have been going to a brushless one.

Exactly! That’s why I trade my cars in before 10 years old. They’ll go through automatic car washes just fine, without any noticeable damage for the first 8-10 years. But after that the paint starts looking dull and dingy.

And yes, you can get paint damage on day 1 if you get an automated car wash at a gas station that has no attendant on duty and the wash gets serviced only once per day.

But, if you go to your local detailer that does $70 hand washes and you just get their budget $20 automated wash, your paint is going to be just fine.

Ok, but I'm still confused about the alleged necessity of pressing the L on the shifter.

What happens is this. You get to the wash, and have to leave your car to let the car roll down the track without you in it. You put it in neutral, however when you open the Maverick door to exit the vehicle. It will go into park, unless you push the L button first. Pushing the L button allows it to stay in neutral.

Ohhh! That belongs in the "Maverick Secrets Revealed" book! Thanks for the explanation.
I'm not so sure I would feel comfortable with having to 'bail out' of my truck to get it through and automatic car wash. I kind of like sitting in it when it goes through the rain storm, soapstorm, and hurricane winds. LOL.
