Antenna in Car Wash?

I don't listen to broadcast radio anymore so I removed my antenna. I was concerned about having the antenna base with the open hole so I used a M5x0.8x10mm allen head screw to plug it. The thread length is juuuust a bit too long. A M5x0.8x5mm would fit perfect.

Put on a stubby because of garage door height. I hand wash my Maverick with a mild wash to help prolong the ceramic coating. Don't like car washes.

You should be fine, I'm using touch-free washes, it's probably the safest bet

I installed a LONGER antenna for better reception & it has made it through many washes, some no touch & some with brushes.

Some of those auto carwashes are brutal.

Which is a good reason not to use them.

True. Only been through 1 with the Maverick, then my antenna stayed in the cup holder until I got my friend to put it back on. I normally go to the coin washes with my own supplies. Unfortunately with apartment life I can't just wash it at home

Mine has come loose a couple of times, but never broken. A friend with a Transit had his snap off in the same wash and they are similar.

I found it on the internet, they come in different lengths, just make sure to get the one with metric threads.

Brand new paint.. only hand wash and wax for me. I don't trust car washes, they can leave micro scuffs in the clear coat.
