Just got the 26C10 Trailer Module recall done, and as expected, the "upsell" continues. I'm at 48K/22 months in-service, they are recommending a new cabin filter (replaced 15K ago), and a brake fluid flush. Mind you, the manual shows the brake fluid at 3 years, no mileage, and when I questioned the need, they claim it should be done every 30K. Also suggested the trans fluid be done at 30K, I told them the trans, PTU & RDU have already been done, and was documented in my FordPass account.

At least the coffee in the waiting room is still free,,,,,

Brake fluid every 30K? Ridiculous.

your dealer is obviously use to dealing with suckers. Great that you shut them down on their up sale practices.

Yeah.... but the real sucker punch is when they go ahead and do it, and then, when you go to pay your bill, they hit you up with all the extras that you never agreed to.... seen that before. Some dealers see them coming and going and figure on getting lucky on those who dont b!tch.

Cabin filter is every 20k, so unless they actually inspected it or you live in a dusty area should be good for another 5k. Having just changed mine yesterday, it's literally a 5 minute job.

Thanks for the reminder on the brakes, I just hit 3 years mark yesterday. Looks like I've got my Saturday planned out now, or may get a quote from the dealer since it will be there in the AM already for the trailer light software recall.

I am probably the least mechanical guy in the universe and even I can replace my own cabin air filter. Plenty of videos showing how to do it. Takes just a few minutes and you have the advantage of buying a much higher quality filter than the standard one from Ford. Also much cheaper that their filter. 2022 XLT Hybrid, almost at 60K.

They wouldn't get 1 extra nickel from me. Legally if you don't authorize the service it's on them.

If they were so hard to replace they wouldn't bring them out to you for show then try to sell you on replacing them. If it is a real sleazy operation they will have a stock dirty air and cabin filter they bring out for all customers. The hardest part of replacing a cabin air filter is not dumping all the stuff in your glove box all over the floor when you unclip the side pins.

I did my brake fluid at ~65K at about 4 3/4 years and it wasn't dark brown but well aged. It was definitely due for a flush. Doing it at 48K is not a bad idea. Also if possible go from the Dot 4 LV Motorcraft fluid to a better brake fluid like the Bosch ESI16 323N low viscosity brake fluid which costs about the same per quart at ~$20.

The worst part of the cabin filter issue is the cost. A Motorcraft FP100A is $17.08 @ Rock Auto (+ $6.99 shipping), O'Reilly Auto Parts near me has it for $22.99 (free pickup), the dealer charge is $63.95.

I paid around $30 at the dealer when I changed mine. Only reason is I couldn't find an aftermarket direct replacement at walmart or auto parts stores and wanted to do it right away.

The Stealership is at it again. I have to say I have never changed brake fluid ever—only when I had to crack the lines for a caliper, brake hose, master cylinder, etc., to bleed the system. Idk, maybe this new fancy brake fluid is special... 🤷‍♂️

I put over 500,000 miles on three classic Rangers over 33 years and NEVER flushed the brake fluid once. Never changed one spark plug either.

Does that make me right? Hell no, but i never had any trouble with my brakes except for pads and rotors.
