This honestly seems like more work to set up than an instant pop-up or ez-up ground tent and you lose covered bed storage and use of the vehicle in process. What is the advantage, camping on rough / uneven ground?

The velcro strips that came with my Bed Rug for the tail pad wouldn't stick either, try using E6000 silicone adhesive under it instead. Hold is pretty strong but unlike epoxy is removeable if you have to later (just peel slowly).
