Has anyone with a defective BXT-99RT4-A flooded battery had Ford agree to replace it with the BAGM-H4 battery? My dealer says Ford will only pay to replace a similar battery which will most likely fail, too.

Ford replaced a standard EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) with a higher-quality AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery as part of a service action or "recall" for certain model years, particularly for vehicles experiencing 12V battery drain issues like the Maverick and some F-150s

That was an EB recall, for when FLA was installed, when before & after AGM's were installed and spec'd.

It was not for hybrid.

If a nice dealer, you may be able to pay for an upgrade to AGM - otherwise the warranty is only for what is spec'd.

The FLA battery you listed.

ETA:
AGM is now the replacement default battery. This was old comment before that started.

My '22 was in for service a couple months back and they replaced the battery. I didn't even look at what was put in. The only part or service done during my warranty period.

I saw the dealer in May with deep sleep (constant battery saver) issue.
They replaced the battery with an FLA Exact model that was there. It is now mid August and the battery saver issue is back. I’m thinking I’ll go AGM and set minimum SOC to 95% with Forescan.

Sure did, just a few weeks ago after a lengthy deliberation with the service manager. I did agree to pay a $100 upgrade charge using my Fordpass rewards so I didn't even feel it. This FoMoCo AGM retails for around $300 so it was a really fair deal. Especially considering they did the reprogramming, testing and software upgrade all while I drove a rental for a week on their dime. Additionally, IF Ford ever issues a battery recall for the hybrid, I will get a refund.
Now, after all of that I am still getting battery saver mode notification although not as often. Something still unknown is causing either uncharging of the battery or a parasitic draw. That test passed months ago but I will be taking it back AGAIN next week. They are calling in a Ford Service Engineer who apparently brings in more sophisticated diagnostic equipment than the service department currently has. It has been an adventure but I'm not ready to take drastic action just yet. If I didn't love every other aspect of this truck they would be buying it back. Good luck with yours.

The BAGM-H4 retails for $229.95. But, this is the part that we all should be pissed off about;go to the Ford parts website and type in your Maverick, year, etc, battery and it will NOT show the BXT-99RT4-A battery that is the current flooded battery that is giving us problems. It only shows the AGM battery as the correct battery for the truck. At the bottom of the picture of the AGM battery it states"As with all Motorcraft and Ford Parts, any innovations or improvements developed since the manufacture of the vehicle are included in these after market replacement parts, ensuring the most current technology and performance." WE ALL need to demand any replacements be only the AGM which is the current technology! Ford is making a bad situation worse by forcing these leftover defective batteries on people who are already not happy after the experience of the previous batteries.

You're absolutely right, I was not aware of this. Not that long ago the BXT-99RT4 A was the de facto replacement for the hybrid. Perhaps the battery tested good at the time. I got the AGM because I demanded it. I will be addressing this with my dealer very soon. Thanks

Let me know how it turns out. I just talked to my service rep and he agrees with me that the AGM should be the replacement battery for the defective battery in my truck now but Ford is only allowing them to replace it with another flooded battery which will most likely fail, too. I will be talking to my national service rep tomorrow to plead my case but have no high expectations. I will post when this is all settled.

Sure will. But keep in mind it's not the panacea some have claimed. Something else also plays a role. We have to stay at it. Go Chiefs!

You still fighting with ford on this? (I understand the frustration, don't get me wrong). To my knowledge if the vehicle came with a EFB battery from the factory and it needs replace under Warranty then ford is only going to replace it with a EFB battery. The only exception I know of is on the EB Mavericks there were some that had EFB which was mfg'd overseas that had an internal flaw and ford did replace them with AGM but it was only for certain EFB batteries during a certain time period. I not aware of any Hybrid EFB being replaced with a AGM unless the owner paid the difference but I think that was a good dealer that worked with the customer, not ford. I might be wrong but thats been my understanding.
