well...you're sort of plugging in the truck. But, yeah, if it's been problematic and the actual fix isn't available then being pro-active is not a bad idea. All I ever get is the 'go drive me' syndrome and I ignore it - have had it sit for 4 days in the winter and it still starts up fine....here's to one day them fixing this (and maybe giving us new batteries) and we can have dome lights on and put the tender away...I'm not plugging in the truck. It starts every time I turn the key even at -30F this winter. To be honest I have spent tons of time studying this whole charging issue, BMS and the like and I have had enough of it. There comes a time, and now is the time.
