I'm not plugging in the truck. It starts every time I turn the key even at -30F this winter. To be honest I have spent tons of time studying this whole charging issue, BMS and the like and I have had enough of it. There comes a time, and now is the time.
well...you're sort of plugging in the truck. But, yeah, if it's been problematic and the actual fix isn't available then being pro-active is not a bad idea. All I ever get is the 'go drive me' syndrome and I ignore it - have had it sit for 4 days in the winter and it still starts up fine....here's to one day them fixing this (and maybe giving us new batteries) and we can have dome lights on and put the tender away...

Yep. I told him (Service Mgr.) that the battery management does not fully charge the battery. I think it can be changed to 90% on ForScan but it needs to be 100% like it has been on all cars for the past 100+ years. I just got a blank stare.

IMHO this is most likely why we have AGM batteries on the EB. I dunno.
I have a 13 year-old Focus that has the same 80% SOC target as the Maverick and it has never had an AGM battery in it. This strategy began around 2012 when Ford started putting "smart" alternators and EPAS in vehicles to reduce fuel consumption, so this is not a new thing for the Maverick. Monitoring OBD while driving either of those vehicles (Focus or Maverick) shows that the charge strategy is the same, and I would assume others on the same platform (C1 or C2) are similar; Escape, Edge, Corsair, Nautilus, etc.

Interesting the mobile site won't even show the extra info, that's too bad.

Whereas using a computer browser, this type of info is on every post - no extra action required except to read it.

It actually is there in mobile, you just have to dig for it a bit more. If you click on the user's name, then click "about", you get the info above. It's not convenient, but it is there...

Edit: you actually click their name, click their name again (or "visit profile"), then "about"...

Ahh, didn’t know he has a Lariat, thx.
I wouldn't have known either. 100% phone based. Got rid of my computers and laptops about 5 years ago. PC Hard drives and laptops went to Assured Document Destruction and they shredded them.

In the old days, it used to be a short drive of maybe 5-10 miles would charge the battery right up. Times have changed. My Mav sat quite a bit this winter as I had some issues with my neck range of motion and preferred not to drive and the wife feeling more comfortable driving her Jeep. This could be why they saw such a low state of charge.

I have already had the OEM AGM replaced under warranty about 8 months ago.

Maybe a session with the tender wouldn't be such a bad idea.

I too hope the issue gets addressed but not holding my breath unless the gummint gets involved like they did with the backup camera.

I will soon be leaving the dark side and purchasing an Android phone.
The "Connected Touch Radio" (non-SYNC3) in my 2023 XLT ignores RCS messages that I get on my Android 11 phone. It DOES handle SMS messages just fine, which is ironic because most of them are spams. I'm hoping Ford's update might fix this problem. (Call me a cockeyed optimist?) You might want to run a test on yours just so you'll know.

Hmmm. Maybe a setting did change then, and it's waiting for the phone connection.
Thanks for checking.
Well - I followed my own advice in prior post about settings and changing to match what was going on.
I noticed on the last startup where it went to the Home screen instead of my last used radio preset screen - the Home icon/button actually wasn't Blue like it was selected. Despite that being the display it was on.
So I tapped that Home icon so it matched the display.
Truck off, on.
Now Home display with blue icon.
Changed to radio preset screen.
Truck off last night.
This morning started on my desired screen.

I'll know when I leave work if that was truly it.

Just glitchiness - like the times it would display outdoor temp, but not my cab selected temp.

Had the rear camera software updated today plus the driver's side seat belt recall done.

My initial observations:

The screen is definitely brighter. No question about it. Noticed it right off getting into the truck with the FORD emblem splash screen.

The brightness adjustment bar in settings still does not change after 50% but who cares really. I think some will actually find it too bright and will be turning it down now.

Apple CarPlay boots up much faster now and operates smoother as well. I would expect Android Auto to be the same. I hope so as I will soon be leaving the dark side and purchasing an Android phone.

Last, but not least, I used to notice slight little pauses in the back up camera more often than not, nothing major but it was there. After testing it a couple of dozen times the operation is much smoother.

Dealer recommended I start using a battery tender as the battery checked out good but at 50%.

All in all I would say, so far everything is much better than it was. The whole process took an hour and a half this morning and cost the dealer 2 cups of coffee and two nice fat jelly creme donuts.
RE: Dealer recommended you start using a battery tender = I wouldn't accept that BS. Tell them they need to install a new battery under warranty and adjust the battery monitor to maintain a higher state of charge.
Which battery, the hybrid or the 12 volt one. In either case, something’s not right.

Congrats on escaping the crippled walled garden.
If you get a Pixel phone, you'll love Ai that actually does things, the wonderful camera features and the phone app's spam blocking features.
If you opt for a Samsung Galaxy, the new one's processor speed, the Ai and the battery management blow apple out of the water.
And Android's bluetooth and AA connect to the Maverick' Infotainment system faster than you can clear the truck's annoying nag screens.

My truck and I went to the dealer today for an oil change. After about 5k miles, the display kept saying I needed an oil change soon. The app said my oil was at 5% life. I would have expected 7-10K miles on synthetic oil in a hybrid, but, whatever.

The app also said there were two open CS programs that I needed to contact the dealer about and one safety recall. I had added the letter about that recall to the pile on my desk. When I called and spoke to the scheduler, I could get an oil change any time. She had to check my records about the other stuff. Oh, she said, yes, that really was a safety recall and i should schedule that work when I came in for the oil change.

While I was waiting on the oil change, the service manager came through and asked if I wanted the cabin air filter changed for $75, which I declined. I don’t believe they had the glove box out or had looked at that filter while they were changing my oil, so that was a nope. I did ask him to have the tire inflation checked since one had tripped the tire pressure indicator more often than the others. 35k miles on the original Continentals. They haven’t been perfect, but did the job 90% of the time.

Oil change done and the service advisor told me the back up camera fix would not really be ready for another couple of months. Like, it wasn’t an official recall, it was just a notice. But she did think I needed 4 new tires. Not today, necessarily, but at my next oil change.

I feel like I can’t trust the app, the camera, the indicators, the dealer or Ford. It’s tiresome, no pun intended.

I always assumed the oil life was determined by some arcane algorithm based on many factors, and short trips on a cold engine counted the same as much longer ones where everything got up to full temperature. Now that I look at my historical data, it seems that 12 months in storage will also show an oil change is due. Of course, I only clock about 4K miles/year.

This is just my two cents but there are too many red flags with your dealers comments. For the camera fix, the comment about the fix "not being ready for a couple of months" is flat out false. Not only did I have mine done correctly, many here, including @fordvideoguy , who is a Ford dealer and great contributor to this forum, have had this fix done. Secondly, though $75 to change the cabin filter is unfortunately a common money grab price for a $20 filter, they showed their true colors to you by trying to get you to do it. Lastly, if one tire is constantly tripping a warning for low tire pressure something is definately amiss. Variations in PSI will happen with weather and other factors, but should not be enough to trip only one tire all the time. My advise: trust you gut and get a second opinion. Good luck!

Exactly. I drive about 3500 miles a year and currently have 5000 on the clock. I just changed the oil, which had 3500 miles on it and the oil life meter read 1%.

The Mobil One oil looked good but the 1 year was up and the oil life indicator seemed to know that.

Not a big deal by any means as my oil changes are calendar driven not miles driven.
