Very interesting to note. So if you the buyer/end user don't believe that a part was replaced, but that a temporary repair was done instead (obviously not the case here), what recourse do you have to dispute that or bring it up with big Ford?

I didn't realize replacing both axles would cost so much ($2200-$2700).
I've got just over a year left on my drive train warranty and have considered purchasing an extended power train warranty before mine expires.
The only reason why I'm hesitating is I only put around 3800 miles a year on my Maverick (15,000 miles in almost 4 years).
That is what the repair tech told me when he handed me the keys. He is not a service coordinator though, so maybe he doesn't know. I remember seeing others on here with receipts for their warranty repair which included what the cost of the parts and labor would have cost, perhaps someone who had it done can chime in on the actual price. I have had the vehicle for almost exactly two years, so about 18k miles per year for me, though I've heard of members having this issue at 5k miles

35,700 miles and I got the vibrations from stop to heavy acceleration, and again from 50-60mph, and a quick search through the forums suggested the axle was bad. The dealership was well aware of the situation having done numerous Maverick axles. It took three total days including ordering the parts and installing them. I asked for proof that they actually replaced the axles and didn't just replace the CV boots, and what I got were some pictures sent to my phone, but with no date details or EXIF data (underlying metadata) to prove when the pictures were taken. I have shared those as attached files.

I have driven the car about a hundred miles since the repair and none of the vibration issues remain. I assume they did in fact replace the axles, but I haven't pulled off the belly pan to physically inspect the parts.

My paperwork included the following items, one of which shows a charge listed but for which I didn't pay
A. 99P - gas multi-point inspection $0.00
B. AC001 "front end is shaking left to right, vibration".
Op.1 AC001 - Miscellaneous Air Conditioning Repair $190.00
C. 1007D, 4462A, 10; 07DXQ - Axle Shaft Remove and Replace $0.00
Op.1 1007D - rotational noise, vibration, harshness, diagnosis (there is a long list of small items such as bolts and nuts and the shafts included under this item)
Op2 4462A - halfshaft or axle shaft assembly front
Op3 21007DXQ - rotational noise

One thing to note, is that upon intake, the service advisor told me that they charge an inspection fee of $190, which will not be charged if in fact the item that needs replacement or repair is in fact covered under warranty. I wonder whether that is what underlies item B above, and if so, does that mean they charged Ford for their routine inspection fee of $190 under the guise of AC repair? If so I would think that is fraud.

I didn't end up paying anything, and they provided me a Bronco Sport Big Bend as a loaner, for which they did an authorization of $200 and rental of $50 a day all of which was waived because the actual repair was covered under warranty.

I have now almost exceeded the 36,000 mile mark and am outside the scope of the warranty, but I understand that the above warranty repair would have cost between $2,200 and $2,700 for parts and labor at the dealership and feel lucky that the problem didn't manifest later on. I find myself wondering whether to purchase an extended warranty at this stage, or start a separate emergency fund of, say, a few thousand for repairs and self-insure for anything not covered under regular car insurance.
I have a 22 lariat Ecoboost. Today September 30, I got a letter from Ford concerning the front half shafts. They basically said they are extending the warranty on those. I don't know if your Mav falls under this.

I have a '23 with 9000 miles on it, on my last oil change and inspection I noticed grease coming out the pax side inner boot.

Maybe I'm just paranoid. The likelyhood is that you're right and they did the service. Does the axle seen in the pics look like a Maverick axle to you?
Turn your front wheel.
Look at axle.
It'll be obvious if new or not.
Just to assure yourself.

Read above this post about the extended warranty on axles if you need one - for most 22MY.
You registered with Ford so they can send you recall info - gotten an email or letter?
If not - get registered.
At least check your VIN on their site for any recalls & such.

dude thinks the dealer took the time to repack the boots instead of replacing and then to take fake pictures of the axles

that's a bit too far towards the nutty end of the reality scale

Then I suspect it’s just a matter of time before you experience the symptoms and need your axle(s) replaced

Yes, they are Maverick axles. You would need to check the actual part numbers to see if they were replaced with the upgraded versions. I would guess they were since I would not expect the old version are still available. I just replaced a set on a 24 Hybrid. Pretty easy job.
