Auto Stop Quit Working

About 3 months now. Quite happy about this and nothing else seems affected. I have no inclination to mention the failure when I get the blinker recall addressed.

anyone else have this crap out ? This could possibly indicate a battery that doesn’t fully charge ?

Well the blinker software update might start the auto stop to working status.

If the blinker update fixes it, not getting the recall

what would the battery not hold a charge? Defective ? 3 months it’s been off now and not a cold winter at all.

Could be battery. It could be you just have the heat on. When you are using heat/AC I have noticed mine won't activate the auto start/stop. If you have other accessories pulling battery power it will prevent it from working. I know if you have a light up hitch that connects to your trailer wiring it will be enough to stop auto stop.

How often do you drive? For how long?

I went through two Motorcraft batteries in two years before I called it quits with the B.S. and shelled out my own money.

Daily but generally short trips. So I guess batt is not getting fully charged.

totally ok with no Autostop so best not poke a leeping bear and get the blinker recall update. Just in case.

So I am on the same page as everyone else here in this thread, are you refering to the "AutoStart" function one can use in the app on your phone? I've used it to start my car, but not to stop it.

I don't recall exactly where, but in the info center in the dash there is a place to see why stop/start is not engaging. Found how get to it on this forum but don't see it now when I did a quick search. When I found it I had reasons like engine not up to temperature and battery not charged enough. I've had no long term issue with mine after 5 months.

I was referring to auto stop/start, not auto start. Assumed OP was referring to stop/start but could be mistaken.

I have had my Maverick almost 6 months now and the A.S.S. quit working the first week I had the truck. This is indicative of the battery not ever being charged above 70% SOC. This is a death sentence for Absorbed Glass Mat batteries. The other death sentence is charging them at 15.2 VDC instead of 13.8 - 14.2 VDC.

I plan on having the dealer take a look at the battery when mine goes in for the recall. The question remains for me as to how much I want to make an issue out of the A.S.S. not working if they say there is nothing wrong with the battery.

That stupid feature that shuts car off and restarts at lights. I know there’s a button for it but prefer it totally disabled

so maybe I best mention it when I go in for blinker recall to ensure battery is charging.

Page 173 of the 2023 Owners Manual states the conditions during vehicle operation where Auto Stop Start is disabled.. RTFM

Ok I just read it and since it's been disabled for 3 months the only constant is the battery which is EXACTLY what I surmised without reading the manual. LOL

The point of the thread was to ask if the blinker recall software update might inadvertently fix it. Was that in the manual???

That stupid feature does not bother me in the least. The button is right there to shut it off. Can I get you some cheese?
