I love my 2025 Lariat but this has been driving me nuts.

I keep the automatic climate control set to 70. Set the level to 2 bars which is medium (I have also tried setting to 3 bars which is high). Confirmed AC light is on.

At home the vehicle is parked inside a large apartment building garage that is fully enclosed. The temp is always moderate and does not vary much, probably about 70 this time of year. I turn the truck on and it strong blows cold air immediately. Really, it almost seems like it is overdoing it more than it should. Kind of weird but hey it is blowing cold so I'll take it.

Then I go to a store and park outside in the sun when it is 80 and come back to the truck and turn it on. It is not blowing hard or cold. I end up cranking the temp all the way down to 60 and then I get a medium blow and medium cool air the rest of the trip. It is barely acceptable comfort at that point.

I had the dealer check it out when the truck was in for a defective washer fluid sensor. They said the climate control is working as designed. :(

The auto climate control worked better on my 2011 Subaru!

I read the manual and I am not aware of any setting that is incorrect.

This is just so wacky. It cools too much when the exterior temperature is moderate. It doesn't cool enough when it is hot outside.

Is the the auto climate control really designed to be this dumb and this is what others experience? Or do I have a defective system? It seems like some temp sensor is bonkers or something.

I am considering reaching out to the salesman about this or taking the vehicle to a different dealer.

Thanks for the help!

I tried auto a few times and would either get the fan trying to create an in-vehicle tornado or some other not needed situation- Manual temp setting seems to be pretty accurate and predictable so I stick with manual settings -

Mine works well but !
If it’s super hot I go manual.
Max fan,
Recirculate,
Temp on low,
Sun visors down,
Ice cold Iced Tea in the cup holder,
Barefoot, shirt off,
Cheap Sunglasses on,
ZZ TOP on the radidio’

I’m cool~~~

Actually my Lariats Auto climate control is about as useful as hen shit on a pump handle. Just more over engineered crap that helps Ford Justify price increases.

The only vehicle with actual, functional "auto" climate control I've had has been my VW. None of the nissans, hondas, chevys, ece in the family have ever worked right. Even then, the VW's auto TEMP works fine, but its fan control has a mind of its own. So the fan is turned manually there.

Neither maverick does it right. My setup is simple: manual full AC when its hot out, turn down fan after about a minute, then bump temp up if I get cold, which depending on the month may never happen.

I've had Auto climate control in our cars for over 30 years going back to my 1991 Thunderbird. I've had Ford's, Nissan's, Honda's and Jeeps over the years, all with Auto climate control. I've never used it when using AC, I don't know why but I don't like using the auto feature when using AC.

But I've always used the Auto function in the winter for heat and it worked great in every make and model we've owned between my wife and I. When it comes to AC I've always found controlling it manually worked better for me.

I agree! During winter in Michigan I use auto climate control from November to March. Works great for heat. During Spring it may be cool outside (50’s), however if the sun is out it may be in the 70’s inside truck when I get of of work in the afternoon. AC kicks on when I start driving and it’s only in the 50’s outside. I’m the kind of guy that likes to drive with the windows down and seems crazy to be running AC when so cool outside.

You may want to try a different dealership. I always have mine set on auto 3 bars & 72°. In the summer over 100° sometimes I lowered the temperature to 68 to start and then raise it back to 72°.
I never have used max cooling. I have not had problem staying cool. We have very little humidity. That makes a big difference. I also have fabric seats which helps.
The a/c in my Maverick works as well as any vehicle I've had previously owned.
Sometimes too cold.

You may want to get one of these a/c vent thermometers. To check the temperature of the air coming out of the vents.

I could never get it to work the way I wanted it to. I'm in AZ. So for most of the year the manual setting is as cold as possible and position 7 on the fan. Also, when I did try to use an AUTO setting like it should to get the temp to a comfortable 72 degrees, my wife would be impatient and lower the temp to it's lowest setting and highest fan speed as soon as she sat down. Overriding the AUTO settings. I'm happy with setting everything manually. I have no need for the AUTO settings.

I keep mine on auto one bar unless it is the middle of summer and then I'll put it on auto three bar until the truck cools off.

Ford does a/c well. I've never had one not almost freeze me out in short order.

Aaarrrggghhh!!!. Auto basically returns to settings you had when turning off. (Some claim remote startup choice MIGHT affect auto start on settings, but I doubt it). If you have auto on and change fan speed that will become the default fan speed the next time you start. Same with temp settings. I have not checked but but if I remember correctly when you set auto on, fan speed, temp that will be the startup auto on settings. Auto should then start at higher fan and adjust down to the set speed when temp gets down to 2° (?) of the set speed. (You might try setting auto on, fan speed, temp, max cool aka hurricane front, then turn truck off, which I have not tried). In any case turn auto off before adjusting fan speed or temp settings unless that's what you want auto on settings to be.

Yes, get a thermometer, you can get them at auto parts stores as well. I keep mine in the AC duct permanently just for kicks and for checking the output air temp at a glance.

Turn your temp setting to "LO" (coldest) with manual fan setting (not Auto), and if it measures 40F or so coming from the duct after several minutes, you are doing good. That's about as good as it gets. If not, then you can tell the dealer service people your readings. When I had a refrigerant leak in my MKZ the output temp was much higher, before it was fixed (leaky Shrader valve).

It will always be more difficult to cool down a hot car because the interior and even the AC system will retain heat for a while. In the morning everything is the coolest after sitting. I'm in AZ and when I hop in after work it's like 130F inside, so it takes a while to cool off.

I always operate my climate control manually, because I had some plenum door motors fail on my Mustang. Those are the doors that constantly adjust the temp when you're on Auto, so I believe that they will last longer when you don't use Auto. They are expensive to fix depending on which location fails.

A THOUGHT!!!!!
On my 22 lariat hybrid. The slider on the dash vent air flow direction selector if adjusted all the way towards the door is the manual vent closed position even if the computer controlled dash button is selected on!!!
