I live in south Florida but travel for work and do most of my work up that way on Ohio, Kentucky, WV alot in the mountains I currently have a 2025 awd hybrid with 20,300 miles I leave my truck on all day ac on my dog comes with me im avg 28.2 on my gage ive noticed the truck will turn on

Holy shit do you win the mileage race so far!!! I am at 4,300 miles (almost 3k in the last month) and thought I was high for only owning it a few months.

Unlike the EcoBoost with stop and start technology. Our air conditioners are fully operational at long stop lights, trains, road construction stoppages, ....

Sounds like yet another reason for the ICE Start Stop haters to move to hybrids !

Mine works so well that I have never once been tempted to hit “Max AC”.

Same, 2+ years in SC/ GA warmth.

Last year was particularly brutal.
Automatic hvac works great with an outside Ambient Air Temperature of 117°
Auto set at fan speed 3, temperature 70-72

I have a ceramic film on my windshield that supposedly reflects 91% of IR rays from the sun and while it does a great job it still gets toasty.

Just ordered a front window shade as well. Figure when I’m down at the mountain property even though air temp is high 70s the sun beating down can get the car and dogs really hot. This will get them a nice place to go cool down and rest

Does the AC run off the hybrid battery and only start the engine when the battery is low, similar to how reversing works?

Yes, that’s exactly how it operates. It runs off the high voltage battery. And it runs for a good while before the engine kicks on. And when it does kick on, it only runs for a few minutes and shuts back off. If I have to run inside the store I can leave it running while my mom waits in the car, and I don’t have to worry about the engine idling that whole time.
