I just went out and hooked up my volt meter and shook the living hell out of that cable and the voltage remained at 12.33 volts. If there were a bad joint, the voltage would have bounce between 12.33 and 0 volts.
This connection, correct?

I will take it off your hands, Nervous Person.

Ford do you guys have a fix for this yet or an explanation of why this is happening. Is it an issue with just earlier builds? Is there a TSB? Will dealers be checking hybrids on delivery? What's going on? My hybrid is getting delivered this Sunday and I'm actually nervous more then excited because of these reported issues.

The best thing is to report issues to NHTSA in the compaints. This is what will force the hand of Ford. Ford doesnt like continues reports and if there are many issues report and they dont do something .. Big fines.

Hi there! This doesn't sound like an experience we want you to have with your Maverick. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into this for you on my end.
Thank you, Ford Motor Company, for taking this initiative!

So after two days at the dealer, they called me and basically gave up. They did not check the wire harness so many of the current posts have been mentioning, because frankly they had no idea what it was. This was the first hybrid that the dealer had serviced, and they told me "battery health is fine, no error codes, nothing we can do." I tried to get them to check the wiring hardness, to which they claimed the checked all the wires. They did not check the wire in the engine that many people believe is the cause of this issue. I asked them twice to check it and they just kept saying "we checked the wires to the battery."

So meanwhile, I just wait for it to die again I suppose, or a TSB to be issued. Might call around to some dealers service departments in a more populated area to see if they have serviced this issue yet.

This is basically what you can expect from small town dealers when there is no guidance from Ford.
There is information for the dealer about this issue in the Tech hotline/Technical Assistance Center. Easy to find. Ford Tech forums also mention the issue and have pics etc.

So the information is out there, but they have to dig a bit.

No way was I going to buy a hybrid, but a group of DOT thugs showed up at my house and forced me to click the order button on Ford's website. Now I'm going to be stuck burning way less gas than I wanted to!
Not only that but now it appears that those that have mavericks will NOT save as much $ when the govt suspends the fuel tax!

I'd hate to be a dealer service tech working on a Maverick. All these owners that know every nuance of the truck. I'd pray they assign me an EcoSport customer that has no emotional connection with the vehicle......

True, but it was an opportunity to rail against an overbearing government that will force its will on us rather than let real economic pressures determine our course. Capitalism, not socialism, is what made us the greatest country ever on this planet. I didn’t mean for this to get political, but I couldn’t stay silent.
You couldn't stay silent????. Perhaps you need to practice self-control/self-discipline. Counting to ten for a verbal response or waiting for 30 minutes to answer a social message also helps. Note: I waited 30minutes to reply. ;)

Not my first rodeo. Yes, that connection.

I received my cigarette lighter volts meter today

Truck after sitting 3 days. No Power on.

Power on,

Since I posted my buy, apparently Mavrick owners bought out Amazon

Amazon.com: USB C Car Charger Adapter with Voltage Display, 30W Cigarette Lighter Type C Fast Charge Power Delivery & Quick Charge 3.0 (PD & QC), Volt Meter Battery Monitor, Compatible With iPhone 12 Galaxy Pixel : Cell Phones & Accessories

Came in box. Hard to read. The key value is below 12 volts, replace battery

For what it's worth. I just looked at my voltage monitor that's plugged into my cig style dash power point. Have been driving 75mph for most of 4.5 hours. Stopped for 20 minutes for lunch about 1 hour ago. Radio is on, running lights on, AC is on so some 12volts control current happening.. when first started trip monitor showed 14.6v so almost full charge (14.7?volts) was on. When stopped for lunch after pushing start/stop button truck turned off monitor showed 12.6 volts which I believe is the open flow output of battery with some 12v current still active. Now about 1 hour after lunch driving at 75 with fore mentioned 12v usage the monitor is reading 13.1 volts. Looks like battery is being properly charged and is currently at or near float charge and should not overcharge. True or not I do not know but if I still showed 14.6/14.7 volts I would be worried about the kiss of death overcharge of my 12v battery. This appears to be following the deep cycle battery charge routine. So maybe I do not have the bad ground solder joint???

You are in great shape. I still would wiggle the cable shown is earlier post while someone watches the meter to see if the voltage bounces around. At home of course.

Also, the meter just pulls out if you only want to use it to see how the battery and charging system are operating.

That is not a bad ground. that's a hot wire from the battery also connected to the cigarette lighter socket. Those points are at 12 volts even with the truck off for about 5 minutes.

Yea I get what you are saying here. I dont want to be too pushy on this, because the internet can give a lot of bad information. For all we know that wire could NOT be the cause, it might just have been the culprit in one random Joes case. This is why I gave it to them and described the issue in detail firsts, letting them do their thing and didnt bring up the wire harness until after they "couldn't find anything"

That being said, the tech was not able to figure out why we lost access to the electronics. So ultimately I am trying to get as much knowledge as I can to the tech to try and fix the vehicle. I don't blame the techs, I was the first maverick they serviced. Ultimately, corporate engineers needs to help the techs out with this issue.

I'd report every instance to my dealer so enough groundswell creates a TSB on the cable and it's faulty soldering points.
