You have to watch your scan gauge real close. As I show my video, the compressor engages very quickly 1-2 secs. after the engine starts.
Good tip. that’s a lot quicker than 5 to 10 seconds.

On my 22 Mav, the A/C does NOT automatically turn on so long as I have selected the button to push air only out of the top vent (that's the button with the arrow pointing right at the throat of the little man). I only get ambient air flow with this selection. Have to separately push the A/C. Hope this helps.
Interesting I’ll have to try that! :)

Every time before shutting down my engine, I always power the AC off. However, every time I start the engine, the AC is automatically on. I don’t understand why this is happening. I would assume that the AC State should be the same at startup as it was when the engine was shut down. anyone else noticing this?
Ya - my 24 XLT has been doing that too. But not always, and didn't used to.

Before truck off - AC off - fan to spd 1 - HVAC off. (habit)

Start truck - HVAC on- fan still at spd 1 - AC is lit on already.
And my last selected upper vent is not lit - nothing is actually, but only the upper is being used.

I don't use Auto mode, and that's never enabled.

Now that I have a thermo on a power port adapter - I'm going to notice if it does that with internal temps high enough.

And I'm going to reset the HVAC module if that doesn't pan out.
Figure it's a glitch since it started doing that.

25MY's do it though - sorry.

Yep. Sucks. They definitely did something different on the 25s. I was hoping to be able to test it with the new scan gauage 3 that I just purchased but unfortunately it looks like the scan gauge doesn’t power up till the engine comes up so I can’t tell if there’s any kind of a delay before the compressor kicks in. :(

This might explain why the engine auto start / stop is disengaged even though the shut off button isn't on, since the A/C disables it.

It's not, my 22 does this as well. It turns on based on ambient temperature and humidity. If you live in an area with low humidity it might not happen to you.
OK, so yours behaves the way that I would expect it to, the way it should act. Looks like maybe on my 2025 Maverick 2.0 XLT they have changed it for some reason which is rather dumb because the last thing you want on startup is to start it under the AC load.
I think it depends on the temperature in your cabin. If it's higher than what you have it set for, it will automatically come on to get the cabin to that temperature, which is what I would want it to do.

That must be something new for 25 and 26. If I have my HVAC turned off it stays turned off no matter how Hot or cold it is.

I have a 2025 XLT Hybrid and the feature of the AC turning on has bugged me since the beginning. The HVAC system doesn't seem to have a manual/auto mode. Even when the Auto light is out, it still turns the AC on and off, controls temperature and redirects vent settings. I don't get it. Anyway, I have learned to mostly ignore what it does and enjoy the air. As for the AC light, it turns on any time the outside temperature is 59° or higher so, if I see it come on when I start the car I generally just press the AC button to turn it back off. BTW- In the hybrid the AC is electric and runs from the high voltage Hybrid battery.

22 XL. Only time mine comes on by itself on startup is if I left the Climate Control system On and in Auto when I turned it off.

I have had the system start cooling despite no AC indicator light on very humid days.

Mine is a 24, but it's a Lariat. Wonder if that makes a difference?
Mike, @MikeS1942 You're turning this button off prior to turning your truck off. Is that correct?

And it's turning back on when you start your truck?

No reason why it wouldn't, humidity is humidity. I cannot recall if the manual mentions the threshold for it, but my guess would be that it be 60% or higher (40-60% is considered idea humidity FYl).
We live in the Mojave Desert. The only time we would ever see that kind of humity percentage would be in a rain storm during the monsoon season. Typically we are less than 10% humidity.

That's that's exactly how mine works.
I wonder if some folks don't realize that they can turn off the entire system by pushing the big temperature control knob🤷‍♂️

Interesting. However, they should’ve put a 10 or 15 second delay after the engine starts. That way, the engine isn’t struggling to turn over the compressor before it fires up. :(
The AC compressor runs on electricity. The gas engine doesn't come in until we have backed out of the drive way and gone down the street a bit and give it much throttle. Our church is less than a mile away and if we are light on the throttle we can get there on 100% electric and the AC is on the whole time. The gas engine never comes on in that situation.
