For anyone that knows:
When they do the hold for extra quality control (ok, stop laughing), where is that actually done?
Or is it still done, or just on new jobs? At the factory hold & testing - seems like the best place.
Transported from railyard to Ford facility, but only in cities that happen to have one?
Certainly a Ford plant here in Kansas City to take it to.
Next on NPR, meet auto plant workers laid off due to the recent tariffs (I just heard about these, btw) who are riding the rails to do quality control fixes on Ford vehicles en route to their customers.

I looked at the invoice for the VIN you provided..... It shows as having been ordered by Stivers Ford in IA. It was an X-plan order. The invoice was created 04/07/2025. So probably built around the 14th or so.

You said yours was built in February. That doesn't make sense. Is if possible that you were sent the wrong VIN? That would make a lot more sense.
The window sticker even indicates (in upper left) that that VIN was ordered by an Iowa dealer.
Hmm

Sure would like to see a screenshot of the order progress from Ford showing the VIN #. C'mon @IamCris , confirm that this isn't just a VIN number error.

So besides all the extra rail movement, perhaps for a good reason - the screwup was the VIN given to customer.

Whatever the screwup has been, I see no reason for folks here to throw darts at the OP. Having ordered our Maverick the first weekend of the first year that was even possible, I sure do understand the frustration of waiting. See my "fine print" below.

But what helped us the most was a phone call to Ford Customer Service. Maybe give that a try.
1 (800) 392-3673. Remember that it's not the fault of the customer service rep and be very nice to them. I did that and suddenly my order went from a 2 status to a 10...!

They may at least be able to unscramble whether you were given an incorrect VIN #.

Have to wonder what happened to the X-Plan customer that ordered it?.....Assuming
there is one.

Upon request, my Ford Dealer gave me the train car ID number. CSX has a phone # you can call to get its location. dial 1-877-ShipCSX (1-877-744-7279), options 2-1-3.

. If you still want it, I'd first confirm it is there and tell them to take a picture of it
With a copy of this morning's paper held up in front of it?

:teehee:

While they have a number, it can be less than useful.

Mine was still reporting the status of the car from more than a year ago when my dealer found that it was just out of town. It reached the rail yard where ford held it hostage a couple of weeks before CSX's system was providing useful infomation.

sound sus to me. there's no way it should be listed at various dealerships. i'd call ford directly and ask them to look into it.
Yeah that doesn't make sense at all. They can be delayed at railyards for sure... but it sounds like someone made a mistake and won't own up to it.

Wait the exact vehicle is being listed at dealers for sale? That should never happen. Dealers are required to submit customers identification direct to Ford for custom orders (this prevents the big dealers from exceeding their allocations thus creating their own monopoly on high demand trims so they can charge extortionate markups). Moreover that vehicle should be considered "SOLD" the moment the dealer takes possession until that individual passes on it.

I ordered mine Jan 20th and it was in my possession Mar 31st. I didn't think anyone was experiencing these long waits like previous model years, but I imagine hybrids are more in demand. I'm also Z plan eligible, but to my knowledge that doesn't cause it to ship any faster. Certain regions and dealers obviously get priority treatment or faster deliveries.

In my case my salesman never took a deposit from me because he knew that if I passed on it that the dealer could charge more for an in demand vehicle. I was prepared to walk away if they didn't offer a reasonable trade-in and it sat waiting in their lot until I had time to come get it. Until that point it was marked sold with the salesman's name on it and was never listed on their website. Moreover I got all the updates from Ford directly emailed to me and if desired could dig around and track the vehicle while en route.

Either you aren't providing all the relevant facts and assuming dealers are listing your vehicle or something shady is going on. I knew a guy who's family member had custom ordered a 2023 (order banks closed in days) and then snagged one off a lot before it was delivered. The dealer let him purchase the vehicle anyway and never listed it at the height of their popularity. Could have been a goodwill decision on behalf of that dealer or maybe Ford has some clause allowing this with custom orders.

If they really bungled your order I'd say you should order another with a more reputable dealer and find a salesman you like that will communicate everything in writing. Maybe a large volume fleet style dealer(?). They'll likely still want your business but a Maverick will be small change to them and they won't hassle you for a few more bucks.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen but it seems to be rare for a person putting a large deposit down when ordering a vehicle nowadays.
Just saying

I am sooooo frustrated! This is my first experience with Ford and I'm about to cry!! My build for a 2025 Lariat was placed in October, built in February and shipped the same month. It was to be delivered within two weeks and was in the ground in the Kansas city railyard. Okay, so we are in the process of buying a retirement home here in Missouri but still live in Mississippi, so a 500 mile trek and vacation time to come get it. Get to here and said it will be another two weeks. Bummer. Have done this 5 times now and each time a new destination time. Find out it's been getting back on the train several times and shipped to various locations... furthest away has been nebraska. Now we are in Missouri again based on Ford Marketing and dealership that it will be here this week. Then, i get on the phone and they say it is back on the rail again and in Kansas somewhere and not to expect it until the first week of May!!! I am soooo sad that nobody can help me get my truck!! My 1st experience with buying a brand new vehicle. I ran a vin check on the internet and find it has been listed for sale in 7 different dealerships!!! Sorry for venting my frustration, but I have purchased so many cool accessories and have even given her a name. It's like waiting for a child i am adopting only to find out the child keeps going to other homes. I am wits end!!
It is experiences like this that I will only buy a new car if it's on the lot. I bought my Maverick 2 days after it arrived at the dealer but several dealers knew I wanted on and which options were mandatory.
