Making everything an option complicates production and adds cost. That's why they want to group everything into common packages. This is classic decontenting, in the same vein as discontinuing the standard keyless entry, sliding rear window, and Wi-Fi hotspot.I am aware of that. Take away every part of the truck and it wont cost anything... but there also is no truck. If they were that worried about cost, make everything an option. you want the fx4 wheel...add on 1k. you want wireless charging, add on 500... you want the cheapest XL you can?....you dont add any extras onto it. why didnt they completely remove the rear window but moved it to an option?... I would assume Ford doesnt "sell" the addon for less than they paid for it...in which for everyone they "sell" gain more money from it... But then adding a tire inflator....raises cost. is there that much of an issue with Hybrids having flat tires they need inflators standard?
I suspect the US requires manufacturers to provide some kind of method of repairing/replacing a flat tire as standard equipment.
