I can confirm my 26 Tremor has louder exhaust than my 24 Tremor. You are not imagining the noise/drone. I love it my wife hates it. It isn’t the simulated audio noise either it sounds louder outside. My 22 lariat sounded the same as my 24 Tremor so something changed.
I am guessing that your 2022 and 2024 had the large resonator at the tailpipe instead of the current resonator that looks like a metal patch? A few hours of sound deadening material made a heck of a difference on my 2026 Ecoboost. Ford came up with an extra 25 rated HP from the 2025 Ecoboost 2.0 engines. I am curious if exhaust changes were part of the extra ponies. I have yet to find an aftermarket exhaust that would make me want to break my piggy bank for.

2024 Ecoboosts have the patch resonator. The rear "box" resonator if I recall correctly was only used in 2022 and part of 2023 production.

I'm pretty sure all Maverick Ecoboosts are rated by Ford at 250HP.

My 2024 2.0L Ecoboost has the patch resonator.

Google - The 2.0L EcoBoost engine in the 2022-2026 Ford Maverick produces 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque (some specialized 2026 models produce 280 lb-ft)

Engine Details
  • Power: 250 hp
  • Torque: 277 lb-ft to 280 lb-ft
  • Transmission: 8-speed automatic

My 22 EB AWD has the "patch resonator" towards the end of the exhaust system. No idea when a "box" resonator got implemented, maybe some MY23 owners can chime in with what there's have.
🤷‍♂️

If that's the case, then I suspect that the box-style resonator was only found on early 22's. The patch came later than the box

I found where I was confused about the horsepower change between 2025 and 2026. There was misinformation in 2025 about the California emissions engine losing 12HP per Ford Authority with the particulate filter. That was later corrected back to 250.
It is weird that some of us can detect a drone noise. Lavaspill's own experience with his two Tremors of 2024 and 2026 points that out. My son rode with me again a couple of weeks ago and immediately noticed the drone from the rear of the truck no longer present after I added sound deadener.

That might could be the case, mine was a later MY22, took 10 months to arrive at dealership from the order date
