Most models of the 2026 Mavericks will include an inflator & “fix a flat” instead of a spare tire Spare tire can be ordered as optional equipment.

I already carry an inflator & fix a flat in my 25 Lobo in case my mini spare goes flat also. Maybe I’ll ditch my spare tire be lighter like the 26 Lobo:)

edit - need to confirm if jack will be included/deleted in Mobility Kit.

I guess the spare tire was not really a significant part of the energy absorbing plan during a crash after all? Are they replacing the spare tire with a foam block or something?

Ford is keeping the spare tire as standard on certain hybrid configurations - might well be for crash test reasons??

the mobility kit comes with a bag of prayers. it took me 24 years but i finally had a good leak in the base of a valve stem. the green sealant goop wasnt going to work, and my wife's car has no spare. if there was a spare, situation would have been ALOT easier.

IMO this is purely a means for ford to reduce their cost of goods to produce the truck for more profit margins.
yes a fix a flat solution is ok for some situations, to get you to a tire shop close by but in many cases it is not. A vehicle should have a spare tire to get you safely to your destination which could be long distances.
So now in most configurations we must pay Extra for a spare tire that previously was included standard and now for ford to make more money

Can you point me towards a document that mentions the jack being deleted?

Good question. I was assuming a jack delete - no documentation to back up my assumption.

I have never used fix a flat - and a jack may be required in some cases to use effectively.

I will edit/correct my post thank you.

My Chevy volt had the "goop" and pump solution- NO jack. i would guess the jack comes with the spare tire. You can bet most dealers will order the "optional" spare tire when they place their orders.

I have AAA also. Good point about the rear crash effectiveness. Ahead of the spare is a bracket that punctures the tire in the event of a rear collision- What happens now with no spare??

Don't give your tire guy a tire filled with goopy fix-a-flat if you want to remain friends with him.

Nothing. There's no tire there to puncture. The bracket punctures the tire so it doesn't interfere with the crush space...having no tire there doesn't affect the chassis crush space.

On my SUV which has a mini donut spare, I'd replace it with one of my winter tires & wheels during camping season in order to have a full-size spare when I'm towing my camper.

So for those of us who have winter tires & wheels, just crank one of your "off-season" wheels into the space as the spare ...
