You'd be losing a third of your factory warranty with it sitting. Why not buy a 2026 in a year?
If you are lucky you might be able to get a PHEV version of the Maverick by then. Or buy a gently used 2025 Maverick when you get back and save yourself $5+K.

Leave a full tank with a Marine grade storage and ethanol tretment instilled, as directed by the treatment's directions. I believe there are treatments good for up to two(2)years. Run your engine long enough to get the treated fuel well into it. Todays fuel storage systems in vehicles are pretty tightly sealed.
Best of luck to you.
I'm guessing by your listed locale that your vehicle may be in the SC area. Non-ethanol gasoline is readily available here, use a stabilizer like advised. Hopefully, your storage area has a fairly constant temperature and is dry. This will avoid much of the condensation and humidity issues you might encounter otherwise. Mainly, do not store in a damp environment. My classic vehicles did not keep as well in my pole building in the low country as they do here in my barn style garage in the upstate. One year should be no problem on a fairly new vehicle. I have to agree, but why do it? The Eruption Green may only be available this year, supposedly. It's all your call.

I didn't know where to post this but here goes. I got a new mavvy coming in 2025. I work for the dod. Can I come home buy it, buy an extended warranty through grainger or whoever to go through? Disconnect the battery....cover it up and be fine for a year when I come back? Please help
I don't know what steps would be right. Any help ot advice would be greatly appreciated. I do know I want to keep the truck. Lariat hybrid 4k, BAP, moonroof, eruption green, Tailgate lock.
Of course you can.i think extended warranties are a waste of money though.imo.

why would he be making insurance payments?
If it is tagged it has to have insurance. If he is financing it the finance company requires insurance.

and, if it is not tagged, and not financed, it would not require ANY Insurance. It's situational. Also, more and more people are self insuring, yes it is a thing (mostly for the wealthy).

Don't buy it.

Simple as that. Way less hassle and stress and $$.
says he's smarter than we think, but has yet to realize this simple solution.

there's a large air base near me. you can't count the number of A1C who get a sport bike they can't afford and then crash it shortly after. same vibe here, except the money is wasted in a different way.

Order a 26 when the order banks open… I personally wouldn’t want to get a new vehicle just for it to sit a year.

Different states and insurance companies have different rules. Some states allow you to register a vehicle that won't be driven and insurance is way less in that scenario.

You are correct and I am familiar with self insurance. Many companies do that.

How would the state endure that you don't drive it? They can't. States will certainly allow you to TITLE a vehicle in that scenario.

Do a little research on the hybrid battery while storing. I've been told that hybrids (when I had my Fusion hybrid) should be started and run for 10 or 15 minutes every couple of weeks.

My 2 cents..

Sounds like you would probably be better off ordering another one when you get closer to returning home, but I understand if you are set on keeping this one.

If I absolutely had to store a modern vehicle for a year, I would run the tank down and fill it up with rec fuel with Sta-Bil(really don’t want ethanol sitting very long). I would also park it inside if possible, with the battery disconnected and hooked to a tender. Also, I’d stuff dryer sheets around the engine bay and down the undercarriage underneath the felt shields…basically any place there’s wiring harnesses. Trust me, it really works to deter rodents and leaves everything smelling like clean linen:)

I don’t think I would take that one. I would just wait and order me a new one in 6/8 months. It won’t take very long for it to come in at the end of the year.

I wouldn't buy a new vehicle and store it for any more that a month. You'll still lose 1 year of your warrantee and need to insure for theft. It will also depreciate over the year it's sitting. It's not good to let a vehicle sit and not be started, and leaving it on battery on a trickle charger is not good (Better to just remove it from the vehicle). It would need to be stored with wheels off or on jack stands to keep tires from going out of round. If it's a hybrid, not sure how that battery would weather a year. Any combustion engine will need proper long term storage prep to keep things lubricated (cylinder walls and seals). If left in a humid climate, you'll have other issues to worry about.
I'd just wait, save some extra cash for a larger down payment if I'm needing to finance and order a new one a few months before I would expect to need it.
