Help me choose 25' Maverick XLT FWD or AWD

let's face it. I'd love to get the Maverick Lariat but don't have or want to spend $40k+

At the moment co pilot and lux package sound perfect with the Hybrid XLT trim.

What I intend to use this vehicle for:
- Commute daily on flat land, mostly pavement 90%.
- Carry lots of bikes, camping gear, weekend projects.
- Occasionally carry a motorcycle in bed or 2 motorcycle on a trailer.
- I also drive in the snow mostly dec and or jan, again occasionally.
- I like the Idea of future proofing with AWD + being able to tow as long as MGP is not too off.

• 400W Inverter (Cab + Bed Includes Cubby Cover) with USB Console Rear - Can I add this later?
• LED Box Lighting - Can I add this later?

definitely drop lux. it is an expensive cold weather package. you don't need heated cloth seats, but I understand it is nice. awd has a lot more utility than these creature comforts in XLT lux.

the only thing it has that you cannot easily buy separately is the 400w inverter. technically you can buy that part and wire it but it's not plug and play like the bed led or rails.

Everything your looking to get with the LUX Pak can be added later or separately. In the case of the inverter, you could add a more usable one on your own. Mine would not even power our coffee maker during the Helene power outage. Real world MPG figures are not available yet for the AWD only hybrid or the 4K hybrid. Those numbers could impact your decision. From what I've read here, the FWD hybrid is decent in snow for occasional use. Remember, your MPG will happen all the time. You may never need/use the AWD/4K tow.

Excellent post. I just ordered a XLT with just to copilot option. Towing is only needed for heavy loads or pulling recreational equipment. If that's something you do, then 4K is a must.

Yes retail is an additional 1890 but you might be able to shave a little off that. And yes you might be able to add certain options you want later. The thing you need to realize it's still going to cost you for parts and maybe labor. So if 1890 and not sure the cost but you should deduct what it would cost you to add what you want later. Still those times you are driving in snow you will appreciate the heated seats and steering wheel. You may even appreciate the power drivers seat if you have another driver and having to re-adjust the seat often. Not trying to make your decision more difficult but I would make sure you get what you want.

Me I don't tow often but when I do I want to be able to without jeopardizing the vehicle. 2nd in bad weather or bad road conditions I want the best traction I can get or have available. Yes I still have to worry about other drivers on the road but there is something to be said for confidence or peace of mind.

Every person has to weigh what they want versus cost. To be frank, for the price of the vehicle it's not that much more. Best of luck with your decision and your new Maverick. Keep us updated on your build. If you decide on 4k tow I would definitely wait for build 2.

Maverick options pricing has really gotten crazy now. Options were already relatively high as a % of base price, but the '25 options packaging is really expensive. My view is that the Maverick was primarily designed as a 20-25K truck and the materials, sound deadening, features and build reflect that. Plastic fantastic. No matter how many options you throw at it, it's just not a luxury or near luxury vehicle. The real value is that the XL trim level. At 40K it doesn't make sense.

Therefore I think the move is to keep it as close to 30K as you can, which is getting tough to do with '25 pricing. I bought a '24 XLT with a 32,455 MSRP for 29,650. You can get 2K+ discounts now with a little work.

I really don't think you need AWD in FL, or Lux for that matter. You can add what you want as you go.

Love the luxury package in my 24 XLT, I can't live without the heated seats. The power ds seat is great as well. So dumb in my opinion that the ps seat is manual adjustment.

I personally never liked heated seats. My wife has them on her Bronco Sport and I always turn it off. I use the Ford app and pre heat my Maverick for 10 minutes on colds days.

360 is a def yes, I can manually adjust my own seat and don't need heated seats where I live. AWD/4k is a question only you can answer. I would not make that decision on gas mileage differences but on utility purposes so will you need/use it?

I ordered a 25 and owned 3 previous Mavericks (Lariat and XLT models) so my honeymoon is over and now getting only what I need but other buyers will have different priorities. Since all my previous Maverick's were under 30k OTD my 25 will be a bitter pill to swallow.

I have thick pet seat covers and it most definitely doesn't cancel out the heated seats, it slows the warming very minimally. But definitely agree with remote start and the cloth, you're not hopping on chilly seats anyway. It was icy out this morning, remote start the car 5 minutes before walking out the door, cab was nice and toasty. I usually turn off the heated seats shortly after I hop back in after closing the front gate when I leave my place, even on the lowest setting they are too warm for me.

Wrong. The seat covers do nothing with effectiveness of the seat heaters. Mine have had seat covers since day one.

Being you appear to be in FL you most likely don't need the AWD and heated seats and steering wheel in the luxury package. Being we are up in snow country the AWD and luxury package is nice. The 4K package allows me to tow the enclosed trailer without worry. We have a 2016 C-Max Energy and it needs snow tires to get around in our winters as it is only front wheel drive. We are trading in a Jeep Grand Cherokee with AWD.

I'm new to shopping for a Mav so I could be wrong but the way I understand the AWD drive to work is mostly from a stop or if it senses slip. Otherwise if you are driving down the road at speed, you are basically in FWD...so the MPG won't be much less than a FWD.

I am shopping for an AWD because every time I have to drive far for work is when we get accumulating snow. I don't have the option of staying home either. I really want to get an XLT hybrid FWD with no options to keep it as cheap as possible but I feel I should get the AWD. If I'm doing that, then I'm getting 4k for the extra cooling and hopefully be able to pull my 2 place snowmobile trailer more economically than my full size truck. I feel FWD with good tires would be fine, but I don't want to find out it isn't and regret it later which would cost even more. It obviously wouldn't be a question if AWD wasn't offered like previously, but now that it is, I want it. Better for resale too...even though I will just be racking up miles for work, so I'll probably drive it into the ground.

The only extra cooling on the 4k package is for the transmission oil cooler and a different fan assembly for the radiator.
