I think most cars are calibrated to 1 gallon. I wonder if it's basically just saying that, in addition to the default 1 gallon, you can set it to 2 or 3 gallons (based on 25mpg)?

This is what I was remembering reading.
I guess you don't get to configure it, it just reminds you several times.

Yep, I had a string of sports cars 1969 AMX, MGB's, MG Midgets, Plymouth Duster, 8 Fiero's so I have satiated my desire at this point. Started a business, sold it, went to grad school(hook'em horns), I did private consulting, got into Forex trading, retired at 60. Cars are a tool, not all hammers feel or work the same. Ya gotta pick what works for you!!!
I plan on using my Maverick to occasionally tow my MGB.

Fantastic, what year? The one thing I always wanted but never got was an MGB-GT. Got any pics you would like to share public or private?

I just found and downloaded the owners manual; 533 pagesšŸ˜±!!! That is a lot of potential surprises. By the time my build arrives I will have gone through it a couple of times.

He must thrown in a couple gallons at some point. I believe the manual says you can set the empty gauge to 75,50, or 25 miles remaining, but I'm not entirely sure what that means as far as actual operation goes.
It might have been 6 remaining. I didn't write it down, and now that I really think about it, I don't think it was both 516 and 16 remaining (I did write down the 31.5 and 516 numbers though)

if I'm not mistaken there are select-able driving modes like slippery, tow, eco? Using Eco mode in my F-150 with 5.0 V8 adds a couple MPG when highway driving. I'll bet the AWD 2.0 will get very close to EPA numbers on highway in eco mode and unloaded & not towing. Real world experiences of members here will be interesting and hopefully confirm things like 87 vs. 91 octane gas usage, etc.

Even if your city/hwy proportions were reversed (10/90) you'd still see real benefit from the hybrid. I threw this together when everyone was hyping the hwy mileage of the EB. I was surprised at even at 70-80% hwy you're still getting 25-30% more efficiency from the hybrid.

**As long as you donā€™t need to tow anything >2K pounds, go way off-road (e.g., deep mud or sand), or need artificial confidence to drive in snow or ice (FWD is fine in snow; i've done it my whole life).

Sorry.. grew up in New England and spent most of my adult life in the northeast. Once 4WD/AWD became more generally available, wouldā€™ve never wanted to go back to 2WD. Similarly, would not want to be wo co-pilot or other safety systems now generally available.

2K towing is far less than my old 2014 Escape could tow..

Nope. My 2019 4WD Lariat Ranger did that mileage, so the Mav will be better with the smaller engine and lighter weight.
Exactly this - I get that mileage out of my 2019 Ranger FX4/Tow package. Maverick at minimum is going to be within the range for most drivers unless you're driving it like you stole it 100% of the time. And with this engine, driving it like you stole it will probably net you a few tickets pretty quickly.

K. You do you. I'm simply stating the actual capabilities of the hybrid. It's everyone's personal decision whether the additional capabilities of the EB/AWD are worth the significant additional cost.
