I need help choosing between a Hybrid that is loaded with all the options or a Tremor. (Originally, I wanted a Raptor but the prices are too high)

My current daily gets 20 miles per gallon, and with the gas prices rising, 140,000 miles on the clock. The maintenance is getting high. I think it is time for an upgrade.

I drive 40 miles a day(in traffic). Any suggestions?
I say hybrid because you will get great mileage in traffic and spend time in electric mode.

I have a 24 tremor and would recommend. Only mid 20s mpg which is a big negative but I live in Florida and the off roading capability is good enough for where I am. Also a better ride quality with the tremor. Just as long as you don’t need to tow.

With the hybrid, smart driving, in 40m/day traffic, the hybrid could last you three weeks between fill-ups.
Again……….priorities!

As people have said, it really is a personal choice. I went from a '24 Lariat Tremor to a '25 Lariat hybrid AWD. I think the best MPG I ever got was 25 mpg on the Tremor, the hybrid gets about 37 mpg so far, I don't exactly hyper mile. I worried about trading the Tremor because of how much I liked it and it certainly has the best suspension and ride but honestly I wouldn't trade back. The hybrid just meets my needs as a great around town vehicle and when you have a range of 500 miles on a tank of gas that makes up for a lot of whatever is missing from the Tremor. But I have a Bronco so off roading is done with that, the hybrid literally gets twice the gas milage of the Bronco. Look at your priorities and $$ and buy what fits best, there really is no right answer, they are both great in different ways. If you have you heart set on a Raptor, as one of the other guys said, check out the Ranger Raptor, it's the most affordable of the Raptor series.

I personally was not ready for a Hybrid so I have the Ecoboost 2.0. High 20's around town and 33-35 on long trips (between NY and FL) with a bed full of stuff.

My reasoning for choosing the Tremor as an option. While I won't be doing a lot of off-roading, I selected it because it's the closest option to a Raptor.
The AWD hybrid is not meant for off roading in the least.
Depends on the type of off roading. One of my wheeling buddies sold his rig and got...a Toyota RAV4 XLE hybrid...because he's now a family man. We took it on a blue square (moderate) trail when it was box stock with its highway tires and 800 miles on the odometer. To the shock and dismay of three kitted-out Jeep Wranglers that were about to enter the same trail, the RAV4 emerged unscathed.

It wasn't exactly something I'd recommend for beginners. He had to really finesse the RAV4 to overcome its deficiencies (no low range, poor approach angle, low ground clearance) that a Jeep could just drive over like its a paved road, but the electric AWD did fine and the drive modes helped.

He said it was almost refreshing in a way because it's challenging to wheel without getting body damage even on a relatively easy trail, whereas his previous Tacoma regular cab 4x4 could just drive up a literal wall and not be challenged.

Those “less than a dollar” gallon of gas day will never, ever happen again. I’m glad you love your Tremor.

It is not made to off road. That's all there is to it.

The Tremor should be fed 91 octane & have the oil changed every 3000mi or 6mo for Turbo care. Many of us EB owners don’t mind - but you should be aware of the care & feeding of an EB.

This says that you want a hybrid. Hybrids get better mileage in stop and go traffic whether that is on the freeway or in the city. When you say you want a Tremor, what's that for? Actually going off road, scratching up your paint, denting your oil pan, possibly rolling over your truck? Or do you just think that you might need to pull something on a gravel road once or twice a year. If it's the latter, consider an AWD hybrid (i.e. all the options).

I say this because I see a lot of raised trucks tricked out with huge tires, but they're so shiny, you know that's never seen an unpaved road. 😁

This is the best reason I can give you for wanting a Tremor. It looks like a baby (Ranger) Raptor. It looks a bit aggressive. Doesn't look or seem like a truck I will get bored of quickly.

I am afraid I will get bored of the hybrid quickly.

Side note: I have not gone out for a test drive yet.

It looks like a baby Raptor, but it's a lifted Escape with a bed with terrible articulation. Is it more capable than the hybrid? Sure. But not much. You'd still run into limitations offroading given the platform.

I think the hybrid is where the Maverick really shines.

I had to make this decision a month ago, I went with the Tremor. I was trading in my old Mustang for the Tremor so I wanted something that had a little pep, was fun to drive and could do some off roading. I test drove a Hybrid and the Tremor, the Hybrid was peppier than I expected but the Tremor with it's EcoBoost made me smile, so I chose the Tremor. Everyone raves what a comfortable ride my Tremor provides due to its unique suspension.

Best fuel economy I was able to obtain over a fill up, when driving light on the Tremor was 24.5 MPG to 25 MPG, I got it upwards of 27 MPG but I couldn't maintain that fuel economy over the whole tank. I only have 2000 miles on it so far, driving mostly highway and I am a bit of a lead foot, I will set the adaptive cruise control for 78-84 MPH depending on traffic/conditions and I live in a mountainous area which eats into my MPG soon as I start climbing.

I am hoping it will go up as the milage increases but I accepted this would probably be the best fuel economy I can get with it and I don't take points off on the vehicle for it. I also give credit to this trucks fuel economy, I have a 2019 Ford Fusion AWD with the older version of the 2.0L EcoBoost and the tops I ever got out of it was 24 MPG for a whole tank over the last 160,000 miles I driven it. Granted this truck has the 8 speed automatic while my Fusion has the 6 speed automatic but the Maverick isn't as aerodynamic as my Fusion and the Maverick has much faster acceleration somehow.

I say test drive both and see how you feel.

What color Tremor are you thinking? Not sure if the 2026 color choices are public yet though….

I drive a Lobo instead of a Tremor because my old bones need the lowest tailgate possible:) Love the new 25 EB - my first ever turbo.
