With winter sneaking up on us, we all know what’s coming—foggy mornings🌫, rainy evenings🌧, and those eerie, snow-filled nights❄. When you’re driving in these tricky conditions, every bit of visibility helps. But here’s the thing: not all vehicles, especially the newer models, come with fog lights anymore.

So, let’s get into it—does your ride still have fog lights? If it does, do you find them useful when the weather takes a turn for the worse? Or, if your car isn’t equipped with them, how do you tackle driving in low-visibility situations? 😬

We’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts and tips. Winter weather can be unpredictable, but we can all be a bit more prepared by sharing what works (or doesn’t) when visibility drops!😛

I added the Diode Dynamics fogs. Got the amber as I actually want them for fog and snow use. The white aren't as much help as the white light reflects back a lot more than amber. I think most add the white because they want them for looks more than utility.

I added the Diode Dynamics as well, what works is a good optical housing with a sharp cut-off and an adjustable beam in the vertical axis. Debatable how much they help in the fog but are more than useful in heavier rain and low light conditions on side roads and off highway driving.

What really sold me (besides being the only on the market at the time) was the ease of mounting and factory look of the trim bezel.

Looking forward to additional offerings in the market, good luck!

I have 5 drivers so 5 cars and all of them have fog lights besides the Maverick, which drives me nuts. Need a good looking fog light option for the Tremor. DD one's look great, but I haven't seen anything comparable for units with tow hooks. If anyone has seen something please post the link in a reply. Thanks!

Being from the South, I'm not sure about the "winter visibility" but I do prefer them when driving in the rain as it helps light up the road lines. Fog can also be an issue but I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've been out driving in thick fog since moving to a remote job.

Adding fog lamps to my Maverick is a "nice to have" but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Fog lights are a basic safety feature. Ford's reasoning not to include them, or offer them as an option, evades me. Sure, you can install your own, but safety is job 1, right, Ford?

I only find them helpful in fog or dark rainy conditions my other two vehicles have them but I don't hardly ever use them unless it's foggy or raining when it's dark out. Otherwise all my vehicles have LED headlights which light up the adequately enough for me.

Personally I like having them rather than not having the option.

I've yet to see a single person post nighttime shot of the light output of these diode dynamic fog lights.

I have a different use for the fog lights - when I drive in town at night pedestrians act like you can see them even when they are dressed line ninjas. Fog lights have saved a few lives in crosswalks when I'm turning ;-)

standard maverick LED lights are excellent and put down a lot of bright light both low and wide in low beam mode and make up a lot for not having a fog - that being said my '23 Ranger has halogen lights and came with white halogen fogs from the factory - the low beam halogen really need the assistance of a fog in conditions - I swapped out my standard white halogen fogs for an amber LED plug and play that helps immensely, especially in heavy snow and fog conditions

I'd agree with this. Wife's 2018 odyssey has projector halogens and halogen fog lights and they were less powerful than the Mavericks LED headlights. My civic also has LED headlights and no fog lights and the coverage is great.

I ended up swapping out the halogens for LEDs since they are projector style lights and it has might quite the difference. I also did the fog lights with LEDs but they are reflector and quite bright so we don't run them unless necessary.

However, in many cases the lights are aimed way to high to be useful.
I've seen SO MANY "fog lights" that are aimed at oncoming drivers' eyes, rather than down at the road. I absolutely DESPISE fog lights, mostly for this reason. They're not just too high to be useful, they're too high to be SAFE for oncoming traffic.

I'd be happier if people would just consistently turn on their headlights when it's dark or foggy. Skip the fog lights, just do what you're supposed to do.

I also had the Diode Dynamics amber/white lights installed on my '24 Maverick XL. In addition to great "factory" appearance, it also improves visibility. My wife's '16 Ford Fusion SE came equipped with them from the factory; a positive visibility difference. "In winter, better to have a coat too warm than one that's not warm enough!"

The European philosophy with fog lamps is they are mounted as low as practical, are of equal brilliance to the headlights in a 2.5-3K color temp and do not operate at the same time as the headlights. Fog lamps on / headlights go off. Concept being all the illumination is low thus reducing reflection off of the fog back into the driver's eyes. Properly aimed, of course, to match the coverage of the headlights.

American philosophy with fog lamps, basically started as OEM by Pontiac in the 80's as a styling cue, is they are whiteish in color temp, lower in lumens than the headlights and work with the low beams thus the headlights will still reflect off the fog somewhat.

Some love them, some do not. Some see them as an indication of a higher trim level vehicle so a must have and I personally never really saw the need for them to be honest. :)
