I know I started the pedantry (and kept it up), but when Ford's own site says ACC and Lane Centering are two separate features, I'm not going to budge on being right. The fact that they are enabled/disabled as a set explains why you lump them together, though. Perhaps troll was a harsh word, but...
Actually, I was replying to colinl when this subthread started. My ORIGINAL post about ACC not being the same as lane-centering was in reponse to his/her post - all the corrections after that I responded to stem from my orginal correction.
But I'm done with this - y'all can twist things to...
Apparently we both just love to argue, eh? I was responding to someone who said ACC keeps you in the lane. It doesn't. That's a separate feature. It's STILL a separate feature whether or not Ford requires both to be enabled at the same time. I apologize for being pedantic, but words mean things.
It's still a separate feature, even if they depend on each other. Not sure on other brands/models if the two are tied together, but I wouldn't assume they are. I drove a rental years ago that had ACC but no lane departure warning/assistance.
ACC is only about speed - the steering is a different feature (Lane-Centering) that's not part of ACC itself, though on the Maverick I think they come in the same bundles.
Lane departure warnings is a separate feature still, which my XLT has.
Does it stay off, or do you have to turn it off every time you start the truck? I'd hate it if I had to jump through hoops to disable it every time I started up.
That said, I don't mind anything being an optional add-on for an extra cost - have 100 different trim levels or options, that's fine...
I guess I'm in the minority, but I HATE ACC and am thrilled NOT to have it in my XLT.
i use CC all the time, but I don't want it adjusting for me, I want to be taking it off cruise and back on or charging lanes to pass so I can maintain my speed.
Ignore must strip out the quotes, too, or it would have made more sense. Sorry for the confusion.
FWIW, if you have a moonroof (and lack of thunderstorms), try leaving it cracked when it's hot. It makes a huge difference for me. Your mileage may vary, for external use only, etc.
It's in the thread. I noted that my truck stays a lot cooler when I leave the moonroof open (cracked), barely more than the outside temperature. He insists it's still blazing hot if you do that, and doesn't want to agree to disagree. My last post was going to be my very last on the topic (and...
Your telling me your experience trumps what someone on the internet says. Fair enough.
My experience trumps what someone on the internet says.
You can accept that we're having different experiences (even with similar trucks), or you can insist you know it all. Your call.
So sorry - I didn't realize you knew what it was like in my truck better than I did. Hey, when did I last clean the trash receptacle, was that last week or the week before?
It doesn't get that hot when the moonroof is open or even cracked - it really doesn't, because there's a place for the heat to go. Yes, it gets hot - but no way anywhere near 140, not dramatically above the outside temperature. The moonroof being cracked really, REALLY helps, more than rolling...
So go buy a truck with a $20 gas cap - who is stopping you?
There was a time when every auto I'd ever driven (okay, all three of them) was manual transmission, and how they're almost impossible to find. Things change.
I believe the hybrid, at least, has a pressurized fuel system which required...
Depends. $15 for something I'll lose/break 20 times before the $195 part fails, or $15 for something that will last at least half as long as the $195 part? What other features does the $195 part unlock?
My washing machine can be fixed with a $15 part to replace a drain pump, but it takes...
I don't use the remote start - instead, I crack the moonroof. The worst of the hot air goes straight out the top. So yes, if it's 100 degrees outside it's 100 or 101 in the truck when I get in, but it's not 110, and that AC kicks in FAST.
You're missing that 90% of the conversation on this thread is off the original topic - the post you were referring to is a summary of all the "but what if you DON'T have the white cargo light factory installed" discussions.
I really wish they'd been taken all that discussion elsewhere - it's...
