Great Truck but..... Issue with dash quality. Many vehicles and this never happened before.

I have never ever understood putting a dash cover on a brand new vehicle. But these are probably people who still prefer carpeted steps….

That dashboard is built like a brick ****house... and it is about as luxurious. If it did crack, you could probably just put a torch to it and melt it back together.

OP just happened to find the one Aliexpress dash mat with an oil-based backing that leached out a solvent or something.

I have put dash covers on all my vehicles for about 20 years. Good quality, custom fitting ones Keeps temps down a lot in summer heat, especially in motorhome with that huge front window. Never had a problem. That said, I removed ALL my carpeting out of motorhome and put in LVP. Easier to clean.

This is the first one I put a cover on and I forgot to mention that it did actually help less reflection. I didnt notice it much until I put a cover on and wouldnt go back.

Talk to Dodge Ram owners about cracked dashboards.
I owned a 2002 with similar results.

I really like my dash cover.

I checked underneath it when I saw this post. Other than lint that was stuck when I put the cover on. All is well.

Have a dash cover because of the “ sticky dash” problem that is common with some Mavericks. Dash is still a little tacky under the cover but nowhere near as bad as when the full sun was beating down on it without a cover.
Didn’t even realize I had a sticky dash until I saw one of the posts on here and checked mine and sure enough I had the problem.
I’ll go out in the morning to check for discoloration under the dash cover.

I found out. All microfiber towels aren't exactly lint free.
The sticky dash is exactly the reason I have so much lint on my dash and the reason I bought a dash cover. I didn't have use any double-sided tape my dash cover stays perfectly in place without any tape.

What abrasive cleaning agent did you use?

this seems very likely to me because it isn't everywhere like a person would expect if the dash cover was responsible.

and while we're all here admiring yet another awesome first MTC post, I did want to say that propellant in *many* products such as spray-on sunblock or insect repellent can also damage modern plastic interiors including the Maverick (and my wife's Bronco).

if it was a spray-on cleaner, it may not have been the detergent or other cleaning agent itself. it could have been the propellant.

Summer heat is best controlled with 5% visual with 99% Infra Red blockage ceramic window tint ($90-$125?).

price is quite a bit more for quality film but I agree that is the route to go.
