Great Truck but..... Issue with dash quality. Many vehicles and this never happened before.

Thank You
I really do like it a lot. It has a very neat tailored look. If anyone likes it.
I order it off Amazon of course.
It comes rolled up. I laid it out flat on an ironing board. I covered it with a large flower sack type towel and I steamed ironed it flat. My Dash was sticky enough. I did not need any tape whatsoever.
The website states it doesn't fit a Maverick. Disregard that. It fits.

read it and I'm curious if anyone has used that mat with a B&O system's center channel speaker. I can't really tell if the cut-out in the center dash is just for style, or if it's kind of intended for the center speaker grille.

typical amazon, I see at least 6 cheaper knock-offs. it's a game for chinese companies to copy things and make them cheaper. usually, quality suffers, so I do try to find the 'original' product.

In the user manual it says not to use wax on the non painted surfaces as it will discolor. Did you by chance use wax or some othe rprotectant on it before placing the dash mat on it?

One thing I find a little odd about my dash.... when it gets hot it almost gets a little sticky, or tacky. Never seen that before. I have wondered if putting some protectant on it would help.

I can't speak for others but for me I like that it protects from cracking but I mainly did it for aesthetics. It adds the retro look I wanted. I even changed the colors to the radio and the knobs to make it look more uniform from top to bottom. The beauty of the Maverick is that its so easy to mod even if its just small mods.
Retro, as in owned by someones grandma? :D

Would love to do the window tints... But, cataracts for me and glaucoma for wife make that a no go. We have ridden in friends vehicle with the tints and neither of us could see out very well. If we were 20 years younger, maybe a tint would work. I also like the way tinted windows look!
Sorry the 5% visual tint is Almost no tint and I think it's much less actually and is a cya claim. ONLY FOR THE 99% IR (heat part of sunlight) blockage. I had 20% visual 99% IR on all five windows but NOT WINDSHIELD. FOR YOU THE 5%+99%IR ALL AROUND MAY BE WORTH IT? I had SS cataract surgery and did not ask VA for coverage so I don't know, maybe not for you. I got distance correction lenses and wear VA furnished bifocals for near correction & clear glass above but astigmatism correction added for both. This so I can live with SS lenses and any or all future vision correction with glasses. I highly recommend cataract surgery. My wife has high pressure in eyes and take glaucoma meds related. She sounds much better off than your wife. I eat three Brazil nuts twice a month and one every day or two. They are ultra high in selenium and too many are bad on liver which is holding steady but I need them to keep short term memory working (if I skip four days straight I have to search for cell phone/glasses, etc). Walnuts are high in omega 3 and 4 halves a day for a couple months will get my skin really soft/slick? (also helps dandruff!🤗).

Yep!
That is the reason I have a dash cover.
I would Not spray anything stronger than water on it.
Distilled is my choice, because of our hard well water.

Looks like a reaction between the dash and the bottom of that cover. Not all hydrocarbons play nice with each other.

I would reach out to the cover manufacturer.
Exactly, cheap materials from overseas vendors.

That dashboard is built like a brick ****house... and it is about as luxurious. If it did crack, you could probably just put a torch to it and melt it back together. :p

OP just happened to find the one Aliexpress dash mat with an oil-based backing that leached out a solvent or something.
How many of you have been around, bought or thrown away tools, pistol grips, etc. that had rubber that started getting sticky? I think sometime ago, the formulation that companies used must have changed and this resulted in inferior rubber, flexible materials.
Some hammers and other tools actually stink, when New!
I had a Thompson Contender cushioned grip that got so bad I pitched it. No matter what I tried to use to clean it nothing helped.
On the other hand, I have some old tools that were my dad’s that the rubber keeps getting harder, but not sticky.
Maybe some new materials react worse to cleaning chemicals?

To add, when I had a lot red hair I had some M&H Racemasters 15 x 8 x 28 that got sticky, especially when heated up 😉
Thing was, they were supposed to and they also didn’t smell like a mobile home fire like some of these new “rubber” formulations.

Noted on mine as well, the back side of the infotainment screen gets sticky in extreme sunlight exposure/heat. I have a decent dash cover (sonoran desert sun) and have not seen that kind of degradation of the plastic. (I have seen inlaws lathered in suntan lotion do a number on the seat vinyl...)

Drive-by complaint?
Our favorite kind of member, no? No introduction, no prior positive exchanges or contributions to the forums, just a one hit one wonder with a complaint.

I see what looks like pet hairs on the lower dash on the pics, any chance OP has a cat an it sprayed the dash?

Where did Husky240 go? Lots of unanswered questions! It may be that the dash was damaged, and then he put the cover on to cover it up?
