Did you regularly check differential fluid in older cars?
Yes . always . even hueys and f4 phantom jets . motorcycle , boats , tractors , lawnmowers and generators . anything that has fluids to ✔ . yes take bolt out and stick finger in . if finger feels fluid it's good .

To keep it more sealed - just like a lot of of makes have been doing for years now.

Number of friends cars I've looked at something to see that dipstick not fully seating rattling around - I understand the why.
The Transmission is not sealed. The small black cap on the top is the fill port of the Transmission. Earlier versions of this Transmission had a Dipstick. The Dipsticks are available on Amazon. I bought one for my 2020 Fusion 6f35. I replace the cap after I check Transmission fluid for condition and level. Store Dipstick elsewhere.

Ford has been doing this for a long time, but so have many other brands.

How does one check the auto trans fluid on a 24 2.0 EB? Can’t see a dipstick, or is it one of those no touch parts?
Our dodge caravan has lifetime fluid.no need to check, its weird to me. 176,000 miles though and trans is fine.

There is no such Fluid - as Lifetime. You are gambling and lucky so far.

Well,if the fluid lasts the life of the vehicle then it is indeed lifetime! So far that's the case....

The newer Ford and GM Automatic Transmissions -6, 8 , 10 speeds have much lower volumes of Fluid, Run Hotter and are more sensitive to erratic shifting cause by contamination. The FWD versions have internal filters that cannot be changed without separating the Transmission from the Engine.
These are not your Father's Transmissions - new - more frequent Fluid changes are needed.

Good point...but does this mean technology is going backwards for transmissions? My 15 year old caravan has almost 180,000 miles and tranny or fluid has never been touched.hoping to get another year or two out of it. I'd say that qualifies as lifetime since most people wouldn't keep a vehicle that long.i also have a 2010 ram I bought new, hoping to get 10 more years out of it,but that only has 40,000 miles on it. Let's hope our maverick lasts this long!

If you don't see fluid under your vehicle you should be in good shape. Not a new idea having no dip stick. Model T s had this system with two petcocks or 2 plugs and motor oil was used for the motor and transmission. No dip stick. And the spark plugs was powered by separate coil packs a system that all vehicles use today. I always liked the idea of a stick to check fluids in a transmission however it was always on the mark unless the trans was leaking! Don't need a dip stick to see that. But having the tube and stick it does make servicing the unit easy when changing the fluid. Not having the the access tube prevents fools from overfilling and adding unnecessary over the counter additives or wrong types of fluids.

Yes there is a filter that is in the trans that can't be removed with out disassembly. Believe it or not there is actually a bypass valve in there in case that filter gets clogged I'm guessing by that time you're screwed anyway.:giggle:

Life of the vehicle is up to the warranty end point.
Lifetime isn't what you think it means.

Driving patterns probably have helped you a lot, but please don't be taken by what lifetime means if passing on advice.

Good review here. And except for current year with some specific issues - this maker's quality is better than Fords.
