Good point...but does this mean technology is going backwards for transmissions? My 15 year old caravan has almost 180,000 miles and tranny or fluid has never been touched.hoping to get another year or two out of it. I'd say that qualifies as lifetime since most people wouldn't keep a vehicle that long.i also have a 2010 ram I bought new, hoping to get 10 more years out of it,but that only has 40,000 miles on it. Let's hope our maverick lasts this long!
Yes - Transmission Engineering has taken a step backwards.

Life of the vehicle is up to the warranty end point.
Lifetime isn't what you think it means.

Driving patterns probably have helped you a lot, but please don't be taken by what lifetime means if passing on advice.

Good review here. And except for current year with some specific issues - this maker's quality is better than Fords.

Confused...so your saying the life of the vehicle is only 3 years? In addition to my maverick I also have two 15 year old dodges and a 52 year old Plymouth, which has only had the rear diff fluid changed once in 52 years with no problems.

There is a bolt on the side of trans through driver side wheel well that can be removed.

Once up to temp, remove bolt and fill from top until it pours out.

Not as simple as a dipstick but no need to drain all fluid.
Do you or anyone else have a picture of this bolt?

Technology isn't going backwards, but quality is! Most things now are designed as throw away. Plastic parts and one time use clips and clamps, flimsy supports. Of course there are crumple zones and you may have better survivability in a crash. But unlike cars of the past, the new ones are more likely to be unrepairable. Remember when headlights were glass. Now after 5 to 7 years the new ones fade out and fog up and become unsafe at night.

Good points, and speaking of lights, I just ordered a replacement light assembly for my boat trailer. You dont just change a 2 dollar bulb anymore.

Forgot to mention that in my 67 years dealing with this stuff I trust my own eyes before I’ll trust a dealership mechanic, especially nowadays! $$$$!!!!
