I guess ill never make the 800 club. i belong to another club and they do the per tank. i did belong to the honda crz club, they done the per tank. I dont like to let my vehicle set with a half or more empty tank because of condensation will allow water in the fuel. As a retired pilot/mechanic thats why you sump your tanks, preflight.
I do the 500 mile numbers, really didnt ask anyone to do the same. I dont know how the fuel pickup works on the mav but when your at the bottom, being the tank or the river your bound to pickup sediment. runnin out of gas is no fun.. years ago as a college CFI hauling a friend back from CHI i ran a cessna 150 out of gas, at night, and could see the beacon of the airport i wanted to land at. I knew i was low and the second the engine sputtered i already had the field picked out i was gonna land in.
This was my bird, once, on an oil platform 160 miles out in the gulf of mexico. There was a point and the flight out that was refered to a point of no return meaning of you didnt find your platform ( this was years before gps n all i had was a magnetic compass) you didnt have enough gas to make it back to the beach.

Not relevant to the Maverick Trucks.

My current tank. Should I go for 900?
I did around 8:20 800 with 20 miles to go. Good enough for me. It is addictive but you can also damage the fuel pump for running it so low all the time
Congratulations

I just found this thread! I'm pretty proud of this tank. I'm currently testing the same boring driving pattern (to and from work only, slow and stop-n-go traffic for about 15 miles both ways) but this time using air conditioning. It's shocking how much efficiency HVAC will zap.

I still haven't broken 500 miles or 40 mpg yet. I don't have a leadfoot so not sure if I have a lemon or what. Do you have to switch to Eco to get 40? I occasionally switch but usually just stick with Normal.
Never use ECO and usually get around 650 miles per tank.

Yes well done above.
I’m close to 900 miles on a tank.
I’ve also found evidence the hybrid gas tanks are much larger than advertised.

Several days ago I put 17.036 gallons into a Hybrid Maverick with 26 miles remaining on the old tank! That should have been at least half a gallon still in there, more with the “reserve” everyone talks about.

I DID NOT stand on one leg, fill up on a slope, or “top off”. With the hand clip on automatic hold, while I was washing bugs off the windshield, the pump went to 17.036 to first automatic click off.

I was more than a little surprised. I looked under the truck to see if there was a leak or spill and the pavement was dry.

I was still skeptical. Could a pump at a major national chain be off that much? It was a popular place. 24 of 24 pumps in use simultaneously. I was still skeptical.

But, the math is backing up the fact I put in 17+ gallons. I have traveled 400 miles on 3/8 of a tank. 5/8 remains.

After 400 miles!!! 👍

So I hit over 800 miles on one tank for the 1st time, and probably the last time unless I have a backup fuel tank with me.

812.2.jpg

I hit the "0 Mi to E" at 745 miles. From this point I set my Trip 2 to record the mileage after the gauge said I hit 0.

0 Miles to E.jpg

I usually fill up when I hit or are close to the system's estimate of zero miles left. In those cases my fill up would be anywhere between 13.7-14.1 gallons. After seeing a post of someone filling up to 16 gal I thought I would push my luck. I did have a 1 gal back up gas container after I hit zero, but will not plan to do this often. Unless you usually have a rack with backup fuel container just fill up. Not worth pushing it especially since you dont know what driving style you will use for those las 2-2.5 gallons. I made it to 67 miles past 0 so I assumed that I was at bout 15 gal used. I did my usual three clicks at the pump and I assumed wrong.

Trip 2 Data.jpg

I used 14.8 gal witch came out to 54.8 MPG on this tank (best ever was 55.7 mpg). I did take the freeways more than I thought I would and I also did a long drive from San Jose to Manteca during rush hour with an accident, about 60 miles one-way 120 roundtrip. On the way back I was not in traffic, so if someone in the central valley has a Maverick and they drive both ways on HY 680 and HY 580 what kind of MPGs and MPT are you getting?

Fill-up Pump.jpg

If the tank does actually hold 16.5 gal as on post suggested, the it could be possible to hit 900 miles on one tank, but I wont be trying that anytime soon. I might but not unless the conditions are right and I have time to get out on the side of the road with a filled backup tank.
Congrats!

My habit is to fill up whenever I hit half a tank, so in my Lobo I’ll be lucky to hit the 200 Club. My record so far is 153 - but I’m in the break in period & have only done 2 half tanks so far.

After break in & an oil change, l’ll hit the highway to see how high my mpg can go:) Then settle down to my 2000mi/yr in Sport/Manual mode and hopefully average 20mpg:)

My gas mileage is consistently getting worse. Late last year I got a new set of tires and went from the Primacy's that were on there originally to some Defender 2s. I don't know if its just the tires or a combination of things, but I can't even hit 500 miles anymore on a tank.

Do you use air conditioning a lot?

Maybe more than last year without knowing? I mean, people don't usually track or record or remember air conditioner use. I don't.

But A/C will lower your mpg quite a bit.
Same for using heat.

Did you check tire pressures recently?

Tire pressure is fine at least based on what the truck says. I do use A/C, but being in Florida, I use it constantly anyways and hasn't really changed.
