I wish. Here diesel is about 30 cents higher. Thanks for this though!
Here it is with the $0.30 premium for diesel.

Looks like some of these early built hybrids are gonna be just sitting around for a couple of months. Isn't that supposed to be a bad idea?
No they’ll be fine. LOTS of vehicles sit on lots for longer than that. In fact, there’s even a sitting on lots/days average metric used in the industry. It’s called lot-rot.

On a personal note, I’ve bought three hybrid vehicles that all sat for a YEAR on lots (massive discounts, I’m cheep) and the oldest one is now approaching 10 years old and is fine. It was a vastly different market a decade ago.

Unfortunately, the announcement says that "first customer deliveries expected in January 2022 so required state and federal emissions certification can be completed."

So... Maybe the federal will get done sooner and maybe they'll make a state-by-state decision on shipping.

But... Would some Mavericks have an EPA + CA emissions sticker and some just an EPA sticker?

We'll take them in Canada :)

they can

Does anyone have inside information on what Fords new finance rates will be after November 1? I’m in a jam and looks like I’ll be ordering the eco boost engine because I simply can’t wait that long. I have a low back injury and need something I can drive sooner not later. The hybrid will have to wait for me for now.
Probably the same as shown now. October was the same just rolled over to November they do 1month at a time so I've been told. All that being said. Your financing options can be locked in based on the date order was placed. Order before Nov. 1st and you will have no worries.

That sounds like it would be a hassle for Ford to sort out especially with interstate orders. 'Okay, this truck is being delivered to Granger but the buyer is actually from CA.' etc.

PS: 42 city is great. 33 highway is great. Combined 37. Excellent in my book.
Except I don't live in the city. The majority of my driving is highway at speeds of 55 or higher. I want to see real world 40 + on the highway. Then I'll get excited. Is it better than my Mustang ? Sure. Geeze, it's a 5.0. Still going to sit out the first year. Ford always makes interesting changes the second and third years.

Ok, so does this mean if I go to Ford today and order one that it will be built in December? Or is it still going to take longer to get the hybrid compared to the eco boost?
Don’t model years go summer to summer? So the ‘22 MY started this summer and will go to summer of 2022. Then they switch to MY’23. That should mean they sell out of MY’22 by November and hopefully finish building all this backlog by June of 2022. Add six to 8 weeks, and the last MY 22 should be shipped and delivered in August of next year, because by then they will already be building MY 23.

That all means that those who say you have to wait for your hybrid over a year are wrong, and it also means the holdup is regulatory, not a technical issue.

All good news, folks!

The Hybrid sticker posted yesterday had a VIN in the 10,000 range with an assumed build date of 10/19. My hybrid, scheduled for the week of 12/6, has a VIN in the 22,000 range. I assume that means they intend to build 12,000 Mavericks between 10/19 and 12/6-10. If so, that gives us an idea of their production rate assuming no more part shortages. I don't know if hybrids and EB's have separate sequencing of VIN numbers.
Ford is planning to build 2700 Mavericks in Nov and 4900 in Dec.

Just out of curiosity wouldn't that be tailpipe tests?
In PA, It was a tailpipe test in older cars, just a plug in to the OBDII for newer. Here in CA New cars don't get smogged for the first 5 years. IF purchased in the state. If you buy out of state and bring it in, it is subjet to smog immediately.

My BMW (2015) got put under load on a dyno type thing and plugged into the OBDII. I'm not sure if they took readings at the tailpipe, I couldn't see the back of the car.

My 30 year old jeep gets the tailpipe and load test, plus a fuel system pressure check.

I'm also wondering about possible problems with owning a partially certified Maverick, like...
-- Could you sell it used to someone in California?
-- What would happen if you decided to move to California?
I don't really know what the rules are about that kind of downstream sale.

Anyway, it makes me very doubtful that Ford would bother to do something like that.

My understanding is VINs are assigned to plant production, not model production.

So at Hermosillo a Maverick might have a VIN of 123456, a Bronco of 123457, another at 123458, then a Maveirick at 123459, etc.

The elephant in the room here is that the order banks for the entire MY2022 will be filled and will close in November. That allows Ford to spread those builds over the next 8-10 months if needed. I never really believed the comments like "you won't get your hybrid until the Spring" until now.

This already happens with CARB certification/warranties. If you buy a new vehicle in a non-carb state and move to a carb state, you DON’T get the (better, longer) CARB warranty and instead retain the original non-carb warranty.

Also, back in the day (it was 1980 something).... motorcycles were sold both as 49 state models and California models. Sometimes the only difference was the Cali editions had non-adjustable carbs (pun not intended) with caps over the adjustment screws.
