What concerns me most is the flexing of the uni body on a new truck. The epoxy under fill and the paint that covers it has cracked and is showing sines of stress.
Can everyone that has delivery of one check these two corners for the same cacks?
If its a one off then its ok but if everyone has it then something to worry about.

Or the type of epoxy used is not flexible enough in the area they are using it in.

Add to the list of another Mav hokieness attribute.

So I’ve made a few posts about my XLT in Cactus Gray. Let me start by saying I love this truck, and I’m happy with my dealer. They gave me the Z plan, and more for my trade in than I even paid for it last year! They are also helping me get all of these issues fixed!

1) they found a crack in one of my wheels and said they are replacing all 4(I still don’t see the crack)

2) my interior weatherstripping on the driver side door is not flush with the door, and the truck whistles past 50 mph

3) there is a very small paint chip/bubble on the rear passenger side

4) on the rear window where the bedliner meets, someone did a really sloppy job. Honestly don’t know what’s going on with that.

Side note,

I used my Ford points and ordered the tailgate damper, black Maverick lettering, and FITS package through FairwayFordParts. They were 20% cheaper than directly through the Ford app, and free shipping. Plus they accept Ford points.

I also ordered a Gator tonneau through realtruck.com. I have the guys email. He gives 20% off the website price and free shipping if you contact him directly.

Since this is my first post I will attempt to be less sarcastic than I normally am in real life. As all should be, I am truly sorry for you, and anyone, that has to deal with these types of issues out of the gate. At least they are not major mechanical ones and should be easily dealt with.

But I do have to ask - what do you expect for a $20k-something vehicle in its very first production year?? It just blows my mind how many people are ordering this type of vehicle without laying eyes on it. American consumerism at its best. Now, before I get trashed too much, I have been looking at the Mav also. Just think - trade in a 2021 Honda Ridgeline with zero issues at 9000 miles!! Thankfully, it is stuff like this that keeps reminding me that I do not have to follow the herd and follow Ford's new way of doing business. Ford has self-remedied my dilemma though since I will not wait a year to get a hybrid. Heck, by that time, there should be a few other options for hybrid trucks available and at least one should have AWD.

Since this is your first post, I too will be gentle and try to use a little but of lube with this.
1. With all the prepro trucks out there, if there were stress issues they should be seeing them.
2. I have never seen a single vehicle company that did not have some kind of QA issues in any year on any single model. I dont care if its a Gremlin or a SL500.
3. Its not American consumerism when this is the ONLY product out there like it. This truck is unique and fills a very specific, but growing niche.
4. Try to buy any vehicle EXACTLY as you want it today and chip shortage excuses will knock you into reality real fast. There is a reason MSRP markups are becoming the norm today. That is EVERYONE has few vehicles to give. From Ford and GM to Honda and Toyota, vehicles are filling up lots waiting on chips. The issue is not a traditional chip shortage mind you, its just automakers need reliability and use oldie but goodie chips designed TWENTY years ago while ignoring the chip makers pleads for them to update their tech.
5. Yes in a year other vehicles may be out with hybrid power trains but then you will back with them to your exact complaint here: THEY ARE TOO NEW TO BUY AND RISK. The Mav would have been out for a year by then and would be the logical choice according to your post. The others will all be new and even the Mav has a AWD hybrid going through testing for NHTCSUSNW or what every the safety acronym is today.

Enjoy your day and thanks for the post!

I will be paying 28890 plus tax and license so I (we all) do expect some level of craftsmanship from the company that has Fords name on it.

Maybe its how it’s designed or how its assembled or the materials its made from.

Who knows all I have seen here are assembly qualty issues and the skimping on some basic parts. Aside from that its is going to be a kick @$$ little truck if these are the only issues. 🤞

Unless there is a cracking issue in the corners of the bed to body area… then all bets are off.

I'm not sure what the point of your post is. Is it to tell us (MTC) that we should lower our standards or expectations because we're only paying $20k+ for a new vehicle or that because it's a first MY that we should expect issues? People have been ordering new vehicles for years "without ever laying eyes on it", we do that partly based on the past record of that company's products and service. If you have been reminded by Ford's new way of doing business and not following the "herd" then why are you here on MTC? I'm not saying you can't be here, I'm just wondering why you are here since from your post it doesn't sound like you're interested in owning a Maverick, "since I will not wait a year to get a hybrid" or by that time, there should be a few other options for hybrid trucks available and at least one should have AWD." Again I have to ask, what's the purpose of you post? If the Maverick isn't the truck for you then you have the option of Santa Cruz, which is currently available and you won't have to wait a year for it or you could just stick to your Honda Ridgeline with zero issues. The OP of this thread was nice enough and concerned enough to point out issues that he found on his truck to give other future Maverick owners something to check once we receive our trucks. I like to think this a nice part of the MTC community. Maverick owners looking out for other Maverick owners. The other great part of MTC is the meme thread where your original post should be because at the end of the day it's...a joke!

Do you think the guy from RealTruck.com would extend that deal to a few more of us? If so can we get his Email address? " I also ordered a Gator tonneau through realtruck.com. I have the guys email. He gives 20% off the website price and free shipping if you contact him directly. "

Question 🙋‍♂️

You just bought a 2021 Honda Ridgeline with zero issues that you don’t want? You think we’re a bit crazy for ordering a truck from the worlds best truck company without seeing it? Even worse you think we should accept issues? Ford has been building trucks for over a century! We know what we want, which is clearly something you need to figure out.

Geeze peeps, seems the provocateur came in to ask a legit question:

"But I do have to ask - what do you expect for a $20k-something vehicle in its very first production year??"

I'll answer.

Since the Mav is basically a parts bin vehicle, I expect it to be perfectly fine, and reflect on-par or better, with the rest of the lower end priced vehicles......which so far, it seems to be doing. There will always be outlier issues, and it's probably too early for any real trends, but I'd say so far it's been a huge success on all fronts (except production & delivery for obvious reasons....:()

So, if you are interested in small, capable, unibody PU with an adult-usable back seat, put your order in & get in line.

So, basically, since this vehicle starts at ~$20K, we should lower our expectations and accept substandard quality (e.g slag, paint issues, cracked body sealer/adhesive).

Compound that with it being a first model year and all the associated issues that come with that, then we should wait...

...or accept mediocrity based on uniqueness and cost?
