In no particular order here is what I dislike in my '23 XLT Hybrid after two months-

1. The sound system screws up all the time when any of 3 Android phones I have tried are plugged in with a USB cable
2. About 1 time in 4 the Bluetooth messes up
3. The radio locks up several times a week and sometimes restarting the car does not help (I just learned how to force a reboot because someone posted here!)
4 The key- it's like Ford is giving me the finger.
5. A hybrid which does not include "descent control" standard even on the XLT- seriously, WTF?
6. Cannot set default driving mode (eco, slippery, etc.). It must be selected every time you start the truck
7. The display is TOO DIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, WTF? It gets dimmer over time and even if you force it to the brightest setting it doesn't stay there and isn't really very bright (and it's too small)

On the whole I remain very pleased and a little nervous- I have never owned a new vehicle before.

My Ecoboost is expected to arrive any day now. While I twiddle my thumbs waiting for the call, tell me what you don't like about the Maverick so I can taper my expectations.

So far, I've heard of:
  • Bad speaker/sound system.
  • Noisy interior cabin
  • Easily scratched interior
Noisy interior, Ford fold up tonneau cover not the best quality, other than that I can't complain.

3. The dual temperature knobs were supposed to have readouts - they don't
4. The fuel filler door was supposed to have a release button on the light switch pod. Mine doesn't have that and anyone can vandalize the capless fuel filler. Can't use a locking cap due to the design.
The temperature readouts were removed mid way through 22 production and you only get a locking fuel door on the hybrid.

Lack of a level tailgate when you drop it....how that one gets by QC is beyond me..
Y'all need to read the Ford Propaganda sheets. The tailgate top is lower than the bed height to make it easier to load heavy loads!

The touch screen is kind of aimed towards the floorboards, and exterior mirrors are kind of low so I have to physically move my head down to see out of them even when adjusted. Other than that it is a good truck and the interior noise is actually really good for a 22k truck

40/60 split bench rear seat would have been great. I have my grandkids car seat in there most of the time which renders the storage space under there, useless.

Still haven’t found a use for the cubby hole next to the infotainment screen. Would have rather had a larger screen

With Sync 4 out, I wish it had come with that system instead of Sync 3. The maps for the Sync 3 Navigation are at least two years out of date.

Cabin is noisy

I have had it since March and I really like it. Ask me next March and a few more miles on it and I’ll see if I add to this list.

Fucking dial shifter... Glad my brother is storing my 99 ranger 5spd 4WD but ever since I sold the motorcycle I've been without a stick shift... No paddles. Just scrolling through 8 different drive modes I have enabled to make it shift different for different situations and dicking around with the L button... RIP the manual transmission

100 people 100 different viewpoints. Doesn't do any good to ask people's opinion because they are all different.

Rear view mirrow - the back window is tiny so doesn't matter which way you spin the mirror.
Sound, push button ignition, sync 3, noisy interior ... buy the Lariat instead. You get what you pay for. You buy the cheapest truck but you want more on it for the low cost.
I have a 23 hybrid Lariat lux and still have things I don’t like. Point is for the things I paid for, I want them to work properly, including safety features and be of the quality for the thousands of dollars I shelled out.

RE: Fuel filler door release = I didn't realize it was only on the hybrid, thank you for that info. But it doesn't make sense to have it on the hybrid but not the EB. I'd love to know the rationale. RE: Digital temp display on knobs = Yes, but they could have kept it in the Lariat to remind us why we paid the bigger bucks :). I saw a writeup, I think it was a YouTube video, by a guy who ordered the module with the dual readout and installed it. Not worth the $300+ for the part plus trying to program it with Forscan.

The hybrid has a pressurized fuel system that requires the fuel door to lock. Sure, they could put it on the EcoBoost but this is a budget vehicle after all. There was a chip shortage for the digital readouts last year so those got removed to prevent further production delays.

I thought the cabin was surprisingly quiet 🤷‍♂️

But I agree with your other points. Also the paint quality is suspect, I got a paint chip in the hood literally within the first 10 minutes of driving it off the lot.
Does anyone know if you spring for the Alto Blue, Pepper Red or Cyber Orange if the paint job is better/higher quality?

EB here too. Biggest thing I dislike is engine audible ‘lugging’ sound in cold temps. <35 F or so. It’s definitely an air density issue and my solution is to use tow/haul mode when city driving in cold temps.

Stated differently 2.0 sweet spot is higher than 1500rpms or so when making power in high density (cold) air.
