Lol an official bitch and moan thread.

This'll go great. Anyone up for popcorn?
THANK YOU!

You know what to do: make a pros and cons list BEFORE you buy and if the cons side overwhelmingly trounces your pros side than DONT purchase whatever that list is evaluating
BUT if your cons list is mostly filled with I dont like all the cubbies I dont like the funky door handles Than wait until you can build your own Barbie truck

I like to know the small annoying quirks and get an idea of what to look for. I get that it's a lot of negativity, but that's precisely what I asked for. There's nothing better than honest feedback from an owner!

I love my maverick. I guess the only thing I don't like is the transmission knob. I just can't get used to it. However I know it's on other Ford models. It doesn't matter though because I love my truck!!!

2. When unbuckling the seatbelt, it flies back so fast - it sounds like it's going to destroy the plastic side wall. (same in front and back seats)
That caught me by surprise as well. I'm glad I'm not the only one surprised by that. Its taken a few times but I've learned to keep my hand on the buckle and move it back instead of letting it just fly.

Surprisingly bad fuel economy. I do 90% short trip, stop and go driving and my MPG is in the teens unless I get in some highway miles. Best I managed on a long highway trip was about 32 so it seems to like highways ok. But I almost never drive highway miles.

The transmission is clunky and grabby at slow speeds, which I experience a lot since all I do is stop and go driving. At higher speeds it's fine but it's annoying as f*ck.

The old version of sync on the xlt sucks ass, period. The UI design looks like a freshman programming project and bluetooth randomly disconnects for no discernable reason. Sometimes it then refuses to reconnect for no discernable reason.

The stock speakers are trash. You literally could not find cheaper speakers - tiny magnets and very thin paper cones. I have some antique radios from the 1920s with similar speakers - audio technology has improved a bit since then.

Lack of auto-up in at least the drivers window is inexcusable particularly when it can be enabled via forscan. They shouldn't deprive their customers of stuff that is literally a checkbox in the programming. It would cost them NOTHING to enable it.

I'm generally satisfied with the truck. It handles much better than I thought it would, acceleration and power are great, the seats are firm but comfortable and the cabin does not strike me as particularly noisy.

The interior looks a bit like a porta potty but it's really not that bad. Yeah the textured stuff scratches easily but it's a minor thing.

I had push button starting on my last car and never really liked it. Having a key means you can't possibly walk away and leave it running if you have the fob. I did that with my last car a few times.

The shift knob is fine. You spin it all the way right to go and all the way left to park. I don't like the placement of the buttons on the center console right in front of the shift knob. My dog steps on them and turns stuff on and off.

You should be able to activate the rear view camera whenever you want.

That's about all I can think of right now.

My Ecoboost is expected to arrive any day now. While I twiddle my thumbs waiting for the call, tell me what you don't like about the Maverick so I can taper my expectations.

So far, I've heard of:
  • Bad speaker/sound system.
  • Noisy interior cabin
  • Easily scratched interior
The Door Armrests...not only stupid but everytime I reach for that armrest to close a door etc I grab air.

The gear shift knob...geezuz put a stick shift where that stupid knob is

Crummy paint job where a good many of the owners are having to spend a couple bucks to put PPF or ceramic coating over the paint

Lack of a level tailgate when you drop it....how that one gets by QC is beyond me..

Other than the paint the others are small personal issues in the overall scheme of things.....

I really love this truck (XLT hybrid), and don't find the interior noisy.

What I don't like about the truck is several recalls and, especially, waiting more than four months for a part to come in, having to call Ford Customer Service to get any movement on that, and then it arrives damaged and we're back to square one. Ford's after purchase service is just as bad as the waiting was for the truck to arrive in the first place.

But, the truck itself? It's GREAT!!

‘22 hybrid XLT that I’ve had a year and a few months with 16k miles with no issues or complaints worth mentioning but since you asked…

Hitting the ok button and drive mode button every time you get in

having to turn on the cruise before setting it

mine is on the early production side and has the sagging tailgate. Please address this Ford!

Truly don’t understand the complaints of interior noise, sound / infotainment system, mirrors etc.
It’s not a $60k vehicle and for the $ it’s amazing.

1. Easily scratched plastics for sure! Even when being careful it finds a way to scratch and the fact that more of them inevitably showed up after the airbag recall. The B-pillar is the worst since the bulky plastic buckle constantly slams on it after release. It should be made with a softer material or have some plastic felt around it like the seat belt latches.

2. Too much exterior plastic cladding. I realize it's a truck and that's meant for visual contrast and to make it look tougher but I prefer an all body-colored vehicle. It ages better aside from rock chips on the front fascia. As a result, I'm starting to experience fading on the bed rails and rear bumper.

3. Like someone else mentioned, the rear doors drip water on the interior door trim after rain. This is why I keep a cloth on the center console to inevitably wipe that area and for overall interior maintenance.

4. Also like someone else mentioned, the wipers and deep windshield cowl collect leaves and sticks like crazy and I'm constantly having to blow them out with a leaf blower or spray directly with a hose. That's what I get for living under an oak tree but it's still poor design. I also wish I can prop the wiper arms directly from their resting position. Since the body work drapes directly over them, they hit when attempting to prop them up. So I manually drag the arms further on the windshield to prop them all the way in order to wipe the blades clean or deep cleaning in the cowl. Not a big deal but still rather annoying. Mercedes and other German automakers are notorious for that since they're more streamlined that way but terrible for practicality.

Don't get me wrong, it's been a great truck after almost a year and a half. No vehicle is perfect. If I had to buy it again I would. Maybe for a mid-cycle refresh they'll improve the interior materials but I highly doubt it.

Water comes in after opening the rear door after a rain. Apple CarPlay is glitchy. Those are my only real gripes. Small in the grand scheme of things.
Yes! I live where it rains often and I toss my bag in backseat when going to work and water drips inside when opening the door.

I don’t like the rotary shift knob. I don’t like the lack of auto up/down on front window switches. I’m not a fan of the off center rear tag placement. The door pockets (or lack thereof) are pretty useless. The radio is glitchy. The low quality plastics inside.
I’d still buy it though and it’s perfect for me

My biggest pet peeve is how many recalls there are. :ROFLMAO: It takes all day (9AM appointment) just to get a oil change at my dealer, I dread see how long any recall work will take.

1. Rear turn signals flash red, stupid. Just give us amber turn signals! People were nearly ramming me on turns before I got aftermarket LED rear light bulbs.
2. Water dripping when opening back doors. Who designed these drains?
3. The windshield wipers kind of suck in light rain (noisy).
4. It doesn't make my lunch for me

Thin paint
Small infotainment screen
Low quality picture from backup camera
Poor visibility through small rear window
Scrolling through three modes to get to Eco mode

My truck is fairly quiet and interior scratches haven't been an issue. Overall I'm happy with it, especially the gas mileage.

I've done that and in my opinion all of those buttons are too easy to bump and move down there. My dog jumped over to the front once and hit the emergency brake and it locked up. Luckily I was already stopping. Anyways for me I would like a cover to open and close so I won't hit and mess any thing up when driving. Or I'm just to clumsy
i LOVE the idea of some type of cover or these 3 buttons. a week into ownership Wifey was trying to pull the Mav into the garage. she kept getting 'stuck'. she was using the brakes to creep in but then she couldnt feather the throttle to ease up some more. turns out she put her purse down on the center console right up close to the arrest and had inadvertently activated the brake hold feature :) another thought would be to move those 3 small switches up on the lower dash on either side of the steering column to one side or the other.

1. Garbage interior quality - easy to scratch, creaks
2. Infotainment from 2014
3. Questionable paint
4. Abysmal (and I mean abysmal) dealer network
1. Having a key instead of push button start
2. Terribly outdated infotainment system
3. The rotary shift knob doesn't stop spinning when you get to park or drive
3. Lack of corner steps on the rear bumper (I'm short)
3. i think it's that way because they had a concern you'd 'overturn' the knob and break it if you turned it too far and/or you don't need to look at the dial when you fling it into park or drive you can just give it a good spin and you're there.
