"Do not use this vehicle as an

Yeah, I don't think Ford recommends 91 for the hybrid.

I would be interested to see it spelled out as clearly as that. I believe in my manual it says just that 91 is recommended for heavy duty use.

I have taken to using 93 octane in my hybrid (initially as a test) and my seat of pants feeling is that it does make a difference.

1. You are not to tow anything until you drive the truck 1000 miles.
2. The manual release for the fuel door is over the driver's side rear wheel
3. For best performance, Ford recommends using a high-octane fuel with an octane level of 91 or higher.
4. The oil in your truck coming from the factory is "slime" green.
5. Your truck has a secret setting for "Police Dark Mode".
6. Your truck has a secret setting for "Ambulance Mode".
7. If your infotainment screen freezes, hold down the volume and skip forward button at the same time for 5 seconds and it will reset the screen.
8. The rear head rests block about 40% of your rear vision via the rear-view mirror. Remove them for a much better rear view.
9. There is no light in the glove compartment, but the passenger side overhead light will illuminate the interior of the glove box just fine.
10. The mirror visors have lights.

Bonus:

- The rear cubby storage divider insert can be removed leaving enough space to store your
hitch shank and ball mount. Just wrap them in foam or a towel to keep them from rattling.

Regarding #9. If your Maverick goes into deep sleep, the overhead lights do not work, so I put a small battery powered motion sensing LED in the glove box, so whenever it opens a light comes on. My 2¢.

SELECTING THE CORRECT FUEL

Your vehicle operates on regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87.

Some fuel stations, particularly those in high altitude areas, offer fuels posted as regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating below 87. The use of these fuels could result in engine damage that will not be covered by the vehicle Warranty. For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel is most noticeable in hot weather as well as other conditions, for example when towing a trailer. See Towing a Trailer (page 267).

Do not be concerned if the engine sometimes knocks lightly. However, if the engine knocks heavily while using fuel with the recommended octane rating, contact an authorized dealer to prevent any engine damage.

That seems to back up my unscientific “seat of pants” method. For me it was how quietly the engine seems to be climbing hills compared to on 87.

From other forums, Police Dark Mode has a couple things it does. 1 is it allows you to be able to turn off the white lights when exiting the vehicle, no interior or exterior lights on. 2 it allows you to walk away from your vehicle with your keyfob (push button start only) and leave it running without fear of it being stolen because it will not go into gear without the keyfob near. I haven't found anyone that has made it work 100% of the time.

I read in the manual you can tow right away but to limit speed to 70 mph,and also tried to store my hitch in the cubby and it was just a bit to long darn it!

Did you take the tray out?
