Ford needs to deliver as many Maverick Hybrids as possible

Do you suspect that Ford will not deliver as many Maverick hybrids as possible?

So I guess my bigger complaint would be then, why did they let twice as many people order a hybrid than they could produce or deliver in a reasonable amount of time? That seems like a terrible business decision! Hey I'm a big Ford fan and actually own stock in the company.

This is sort of my concern as well. When I ordered in September 2022 I knew the hybrid was a hot commodity and my sales woman said it might be 10-12 months before it got built, which is certainly acceptable to me. I also realize that I have a 50/50 chance of actually getting my Lariat with all the options. On the other hand, Ford could only be aware of the orders taken at the moment they received them. I believe it was a few days after shut-off when the full order amount was known to them because of the varying rate dealers submitted them.

That said, the Maverick Hybrid is the only Ford I'm interested in, and it is the only domestic nameplate I considered. Plan B for me are both Japanese hybrids.

Word has gotten around the RV community about the Hybrid Maverick...that genie is out of the bottle. Demand will stay high and folks with small RVs won't want a big heavy lightning at a high cost.

Honda shot their selfies in the foot when in 2014 made the CR-V no longer flat towable.
Toyota had yet to catch on to this concept.
We looked at Toyota, Kia, Honda, Chevy, Ford, Chrysler and unless you can find a 4x4 with a transfer case that can be put in neutral, we are now SOL… I started doing my research in November of 2021 to replace our 2020 Kia Soul which we had to tow using a tow dolly which is a royal pain to use. Found out the Maverick hybrid was flat towable, so went in in 01/01/2022 to order one only to find out they had closed the order bank. We decided to just order an EB since we had the dolly, then order a 2023 hybrid when we could. Long story short, the dealer did not finish the order… so we found out just by chance the 23 order bank opened and got our order in, and now have an official clean unscheduled order for an XLT hybrid. Now for the waiting game once again… with a slim chance of getting it.

Both Focus Electric and C-Max were rather hard to find (except maybe in California) unless you ordered on. Difference with Maverick being that C-Max already existed in other markets, Maverick is a new variant on the C2 platform.

I was in Lake Havasu City, AZ when I learned about C-Max and its abilities. The local dealer had several on the lot for very lengthy periods as no one there seemed to want them. My 2017 is completely loaded, even with that silly (to me) auto-park. It will be sold before I ever try that out.

I don't give a flying fart about barely avoiding CAFE fines or Ford's gross profitability - I ordered the Maverick since a ~$20k vehicle that can efficiently haul my tools 1000+ mi per week does wonders for my own profitability.

Everyone rationalizing Ford's big-brain business maneuvering would go mental if Arby's reneged on their 2/$5 deal at the pickup window for the sake of the shareholders.

Absolutely correct on Honda. My first towed vehicle was a 1998 Honda CR-V. When they stopped approving them being flat-towed, there was not a real similar alternative out there but Jeeps. Toyota screwed up its regenerative braking system to make the Prius non-towable, unlike all the late Ford Hybrids. I've towed my 2015 JKU, but it is heavier than desired.

My Maverick modules populated last night...and today the "in production" date is filled in as 1/12/23, which is a day earlier than Ford had originally given me for a build date. I may see my truck reasonably soon, and after all the delays, it s good that for once they beat the schedule!

There's at least 6-10 used Cmax's available right now in my immediate vicinity. No one wants them, theyve all been sitting on lots forever. Not sure why, I drive one for work and it's been a bulletproof workhorse of a vehicle.

And you better get ready to complain about Toyota screwing customers because you aren't walking into a dealer in 2024 and getting yourself a Tacoma Hybrid pal.

Ford did a terrible job of promoting them (sorta like not having to promote Mavericks). When I moved to Wyoming and brought it in to my Ford dealer for a new 12V battery, the service person said "What's a C-Max? Is that a Ford?" I had been hoping for a courtesy battery install when buying the battery there, but after that, I just put it in myself so they didn't screw it up or tear it apart trying to find the battery. I have seen a couple of Fusion Hybrids in town, but I am to be the ONLY Hybrid Maverick they ordered (either 2022 or 2023).

Good question... Since there appears to be excess capacity at the plant in Hermosillo, the main constraint would appear to be limitations in the supply chain.

I suspect the biggest issue with the supply chain is that they severely under-predicted the number that would be sold, and placed all the supply chain orders based on that (too low) number. Whether that was by design (those who ascribe to the 'Ford doesn't want to sell more hybrid Mavericks') or by incompetence (those who believe Ford's predictive sales model is severely broken), it would take a significant commitment on the part of upper-level management at Ford to change that. And I just don't think anyone at Ford has the stones to make that kind of call. So much easier to keep saying "It's so popular that it's sold out! We can't build/sell more because of supply chain constraints" than it is to say "We screwed up royally in predicting how many of these we would sell, and under-forecast our orders accordingly."

So I have a 2023 XLT hybrid on order. Minimal add-ons. Dropped the Lux and splash guards. Not sure if that will help or not but seemed to be some of the earlier constraints. I'm a previous Ford owner of Focus, Taurus and Ranger. All very good vehicles. I want to hang in there for the hybrid as that's why I ordered the Maverick. Ford needs to figure out a way to get these delivered or customers like me and the new to Ford customers will just go somewhere else and may never return to the brand.

At this point of 'overwhelming business'- do you actually think Ford cares if we purchase other manufacturers trucks? They can't fulfill their orders now. That would take the pressure off them.

I've seen a few people comment that these are really bulletproof cars. Looking for something for my daughter (new driver) and wondering if this might fit the bill? Want something cost effective and safe that's cheap to fix and maintain
