  1. Why did you join this forum?

It was better than Maverick Chat
  2. Does the Maverick have a warning beep when backing up...

Mine usually plays Kraftwerk's 'Boing Boom Tschak' when the brake releases
  3. Do Not Neglect Essential Maintenance Items

What is the Motorcraft equivalent? I can finally put these FordPass points to good use!
  4. Winter Warning: Do not leave your wipers up when starting

The wiper controls are off when this happens, which is why it is surprising and unexpected. The Maverick's recessed wiper pocket tends to collect and freeze over when those nasty snow/rain/sleet storms come through, and lifting the wipers up after the fact to chisel things out isn't an option...
  5. Block Heater

I don't think it's needed but it can sure help. I feel like my hybrid takes forever to get up to temp and defrost, even with a remote start cycle and heater adjusted appropriately. It's a pretty good deal for $100 or whatever it is now.
  6. Winter Warning: Do not leave your wipers up when starting

Good call, yooper. Those freezing ice storms always seem to catch me by surprise
  7. Winter Warning: Do not leave your wipers up when starting

Thanks for the insight. I do not have the heated wiper option. Remote start with defroster only does so much when the gales of November come slashing, and I'm not waiting for breakfast.
  8. Winter Warning: Do not leave your wipers up when starting

Maybe I should have posted this to the Engine Block Heater subforum
  9. Winter Warning: Do not leave your wipers up when starting

Turned the key. Remote start does not do this.
  10. Engineering Explained: Do You Really Need AWD or Winter Tires? (summer/all-season/winter tires, and FWD/RWD/AWD)

I can totally see that. I suppose I'm comparing it to the previous generations of RWD open-diff Rangers/Frontiers/Colorados I've had the pleasure of driving over the years. I'd probably take the Jetta too.
  11. Winter Warning: Do not leave your wipers up when starting

I think that's the one thread I missed
  12. 2022 Ford Maverick XL 12300 miles. Was told I need new tires today.

The 4 dealerships I have visited so far have measured my depth anywhere between 3/32 and 8/32. If only they calibrated their gauges like the railroad used to calibrate pocketwatches...
  13. Winter Warning: Do not leave your wipers up when starting

Apparently they will automatically retract and scrape along the upper edge of the hood . Unrelated, who makes good touch-up paint?
  14. 5 Windshield chips in the last 2 months!!

40k. Four chips and one replacement so far. Glad I opted for the coverage.
  15. Engineering Explained: Do You Really Need AWD or Winter Tires? (summer/all-season/winter tires, and FWD/RWD/AWD)

FWD hybrid on stock tires is doing great with snow and ice so far. The improvements in ABS and traction control are remarkable compared to vehicles 10 years ago or so. What used to be a harrowing white knuckle trip in my rwd Ranger is now a pleasant controlled cruise over ice-glazed northern...
  16. Maverick seats...how are they holding up?

My xlt seats are starting to show signs of softness and discoloration 9 months in, but I've been putting on ≈1k mi/week with plenty of idle butt time on top of it. Dirty work clothes don't help either.
  17. Tonneau Cover Buying Guide

The Diamondback cover is incredibly secure, water tight, and is hinged to open front and rear, but is not cheap by any means. If you need something strong and secure, it's worth every penny, all 200,000 of them.
  18. Poll, Hybrid owners with NO problems

2023 delivered in April with 30k already. No issues. The braking can be inconsistent if I'm trying to finesse a stop with regen, but it's not grabby or slipping enough to be a problem. I've locked it up a few times avoiding deer and drunks, and I'm very impressed with the short stopping...
  19. Replaced my windshield 3.5 times already. Bad luck or Bad Design/Engineering?

In 30k mi this year, I've had one chip requiring repair, two minor chips, and scratches so bad the windshield was replaced. Our old rangers and frontier had two minor chips between them over the last ten years or so. I'm sure it's because the gravel used to be softer back then, right?
