In the early part of 2022 when I first found out about the Maveric Hybrid I went to try and order one but was unable to. When they opened up for orders in late 2022 I was able to order a hybrid Lariat Lux package and was met with constraints followed shortly thereafter with the news of only 35% availability of Hybrids. I was therefore surprised when my little local dealership called to let me know that my Maverick had arrived. It was missing two items that were constrained, the spray in bedliner and the adaptive cruise control. I was not deterred and was still excited until getting into the finance office and finding figures did not add up to my expectations. There was a hidden dealer markup fee that had a fancier name regarding the short availability and high demand. I had mixed feelings as I was so happy I was one of the fortunate ones to get the hybrid but that was lowered dramatically by the ADM, yes, I could have walked (and almost did) but it would have taken a long time before there were enough in use and availability would eliminate such fees. I know Ford has made statements against this practice but has no real control over it and does not share in these extra profits. I now see why Ford wants to mimic Tesla's business model in the future.
