So I have a 2023 XLT hybrid on order. Minimal add-ons. Dropped the Lux and splash guards. Not sure if that will help or not but seemed to be some of the earlier constraints. I'm a previous Ford owner of Focus, Taurus and Ranger. All very good vehicles. I want to hang in there for the hybrid as that's why I ordered the Maverick. Ford needs to figure out a way to get these delivered or customers like me and the new to Ford customers will just go somewhere else and may never return to the brand.
For me, this is Ford's only shot, back to Toyota if I do not get a Hybrid this year

I guess I should have no problem selling my now "in production" hybrid that I no longer need. It's a HPR Lariat Lux BAP w/both CP360's. I'd really love to keep it, but I had to go in a different direction - Santa Cruz.

Don't want to turn this into a Cmax thread but any idea what it would cost to replace the hybrid battery in these (non plug in model)? I've seen a few people comment that these are really bulletproof cars. Looking for something for my daughter (new driver) and wondering if this might fit the bill? Want something cost effective and safe that's cheap to fix and maintain:)
I bought mine and added an 8 yr ESP warranty and the only "repair" needed so far was a new 12v battery after 4.5 years...a long time since most of that time was in AZ's battery-destroying heat. I'm in a few C-Max groups and battery replacement for the HEV doesn't seem to come up...just eventual degradation of the PHEV's larger battery. Agree on the bulletproof comment. Don't buy a 2013 (unless the transmission bearing has been replaced)...and the 2015-2018 range has a better reputation. I'll be selling mine AFTER I get my Maverick set up for towing.

This is sort of my concern as well. When I ordered in September 2022 I knew the hybrid was a hot commodity and my sales woman said it might be 10-12 months before it got built, which is certainly acceptable to me. I also realize that I have a 50/50 chance of actually getting my Lariat with all the options. On the other hand, Ford could only be aware of the orders taken at the moment they received them. I believe it was a few days after shut-off when the full order amount was known to them because of the varying rate dealers submitted them.

That said, the Maverick Hybrid is the only Ford I'm interested in, and it is the only domestic nameplate I considered. Plan B for me are both Japanese hybrids.
I am the same - no Maverick, I'm moving on most likely to Toyota or Honda. I'd rather not, obviously, but I'm not driving my old junker past fall 2023.

I was the in the same boat until the only option I wanted was the hitch. Now I added lux to get that option. I want them to build as many as possible. At this point, it would be good for them to say this order pool has a chance to be built this year and break the news to those that have no shot. I don't want to miss out on a build but it would be nice to know. It is annoying now that I will spend more on Lux Package which is within the constraint but Ford won't guarantee that my dealer will even get the allocation. If went EB at least I would know I would get a truck, but the hybrid works for me.

No they don't. They need to produce a certain amount of hybrid vehicles to meet state and federal emission regulations for the rest of their fleet.

Do you all think the 35% cap on hybrids was just pulled out of a hat?
They do if they don't want customers losing faith and buying other brands. I've been driving Fords for 40 years and never saw such a shit show on a low volume vehicle.

Well they managed to sell 650,000+ F Series, and even 117,000+ Broncos, but can only build 77,000 Mavericks? What a joke.

The build more of what makes them the most money.

Seems to make sense to me.

They must not make a dollar on the hybrids then. Even going up $2,000 in price this year.

Right... Oh my word. By the time all those Lightnings get built us middle income people will be buying a small Toyota Hybrid Pickup and may never come back.
Not me. I’m true to American companies.

I just read today that Ford sold like 75,000 F-150's in December at an average price of $65k USD. So which vehicle do you think Ford is more interested in selling? I guarantee that building an F-150 doesn't cost 3x a Hybrid Maverick. My belief is that Mavericks are strictly a Flanker badge and the clear intent is to not cannibalize F-150 profits.

[9-20-2021 Hybrid Lariat order, picked up 11-4-2022, not without a bit of effort…and a ton of patience!]

This thread, replete with CAFE, loss-leader and ‘Ford should do this’ content, harkens to MTC Q1 ‘22 concerns. Yes, we’re living Ground Hog Day (again).

Ford closed Hybrid orders early, in November of ‘21. Closed EB orders in January ‘22. It became evident soon afterwards that a significant # of both, but especially Hybrids, wouldn’t be built as ‘22’s.

I penned, printed, signed and stamped/mailed a simple question to 2 different individuals in Blue Oval headquarters in Deerfield in March: “Is it too early to tell if my fully loaded Lariat Hybrid will be built as a ‘22 or a ‘23?”.

In March! And the caterwauling within MTC only increased from there. I eventually received a written reply, have/had a Case Number created and used that # as the year (and Ford mayhem) played out. Played many avenues not readily apparent.

The letter basically said “too early to tell, lots of moving parts, etc.”. I like to believe these letters and Case # kept positive juice associated with my Order # at the top of the Regional pile, even though it was a fully loaded, fully constrained Lariat Lux Hybrid.

The proof in the pudding is parked outside…

I believe FMC knows exactly how many, and where and why, hybrids they’ll build in 2023. For whom these will be built is the maddening magic yet to be answered…

Then they should never have offered the Maverick in the first place! Way to alienate your faithful customers.

Since 2000 I have bought over $450,000 worth of new Ford Vehicles (F150's, F450's, F550's, F650 & Mustang).

If I don't get the truck I ordered this year, I will buy a different brand vehicle. I'm not doing this dance again with Ford. Longest I ever waited for an order was 6 months. The Maverick Fiasco is ridiculous. They ARE losing faithful customers over this.

What revenue? Even with as cheap as Ford is producing the Maverick the margins are so small and in some cases (a bare bones hybrid) practically non-existent. Ford would need to sell 20 Hybrid XLs to match margins of 1 - F-150.

I know it's really hard for individuals who desire the entry level Maverick to understand that they don't plan to build anymore than they do and it is entirely strategic.

The Maverick shares the line with a more expensive Bronco Sport. Hermasillo is at capacity. They aren't going to expand there or any of their other factories to build a low/no margin vehicle that they are producing to only satisfy CAFE.

It's dollars and sense - at a corporate level - not a personal consumer level.
With in the frustration of the back and forth, I would like to thank you for this educational explanation.
Now I can clearly understand why this is taking so long.

Instead of the B.S. from the bad dealers and being left out in the dark, only to get worked up...

If I and other people new this back in 2021 - 2022, perhaps the waiting would be more manageable.

But, some of the things that we the customers have had to go through still suck.
▪︎ Having to dump options due to constraints.
▪︎ No longer having the paint colour that I first wanted.
▪︎Waiting as my trade in value goes down, and the Maverick's price keeps climbing up.
▪︎ Being told by other members that if I, or other members are not happy we can leave, and buy something else!
We all no that the Maverick is the only truck for the price.
▪︎ As members we have a right too vent!
