I have a Maverick hybrid the recall for the bottom Pam to drill holes in it was done at the factory in Mexico . In my opinion and I know everyone has one I think a 1st grader could of done better job !!!!! 👎🤔. Holes are not straight not even close and the material is very hairy and they left all kinds of fuss or what ever on the holes and I think they took my Maverick in a field or something when I took the pan down to change my oil all this grass fell out of the pan and it's never never been off road never !!!! the grass it self could of caught fire .🔥🔥 Also the fussy hair stuff burns real good and fast . I hope I'm the only one but I thought I let all of you know . Very poor on Ford quality control.

Wow that's terrible. I wondered what the factory "fix" would look like...

Wonder what that is made of. Looks like some kind of spun bonded plastic. If so the only way to get a neat job would be to melt the edges like you do with nylon rope.

As to the grass, was that lawn grass or umm some other type of grass.................

It’s surprisingly hard to cut. If it’s the same material as my 2015 Escape I had to use my Dremel cut off tool. I modified mine too just cover the front of the engine, grass burrs love it.

Hello Steve, It must not be the same material. The two big holes I cut the two uneven points on top and bottom with a razor knife and was very easy to cut one pass and it cut it off Also the small holes easy to clean up also 🤔

Do you know for a fact it was done at the factory or potentially done by your dealership prior to delivery? I would have a very hard time believing something like this would be done at the factory. Did you ask your dealership if they did the work after the truck came off the transporter?

Mag, thank you very much for posting, now i know exactly were to cut, i believe i could do alot better and i know where to cut.

Looks like i will try a hole saw, dremel, razor knife, and a combination of heat.

Sorry to hear you were the ginny pig.

I had mine done at the dealership few days ago. If i get a chance i will take a picture and post it here .. but i think mine was better done, but still looks ugly.

i live in an area where we have lots of snow in winter and i think the skid plate helps protecting from rust.. but with these holes i suspect the oil pan and all other components will rust in no time.

some parts, especially all the hybrid parts (like the harness) are very expensive parts, if they rust out be ready for a shock if your vehicle is out of warranty. in many cases the electric harness is not part of the propulsion system warranty.. Just the basic 3 years.

they also removed 4 shutters.. now the shutter is supposes to protect from cold weather too. But i live in a winter area .
this fix is a terrible fix, If they decide (or forced by the law) to replace the engine parts causing the leak, i'd like my shutters reinstalled and the skid plate replaced and any rusted parts replaced as well.

anyway, i will try to post a photo of the holes they did this week.

Shay brings up a very good point. My money is on the dealership did the work......poorly. My dealer did mine weeks ago and it looks perfect.

Maybe it was done by the same contractor that Ford used to drill the holes in the spray-in bed liner.
