When I stopped in yesterday my salesman wanted me to come in on August 15th when the order bank opened. I told him it would open on August 2nd. News to him but we set an appointment for the 2nd. Wondering if I should call and let him know the company he works for has now changed the date again........................
If your salesperson doesn’t know, I would find another dealer…they are clueless and I would be concerned, very concerned

Oh, I'm concerned. But this is the best of the lot, dealerwise. Unless I drive over 200 miles. Would rather not do that.

I know the information is available, but it is just sad that many salespeople just don't take the time to read it.

If Ford was smart they'd put Tim in charge of all ordering for Mavericks. He has way more foresight, organizational, and PLANNING skills than whoever keeps changing the order dates for the '23 Maverick.
Yeah, like it’s all in the hands of one person.

I think this is interest rate related. Too coincidental.

To play Devil's advocate, I suppose Ford is running down on the issues which might prevent them from turning out more vehicles and just needs more time to construct what items and packages need to be restructured and then get all the suppliers to work on the same page too. I hate to say it, because I to want to order my Maverick, but it doesn't happen overnight.
Think about the logistics that go into assembling something with thousands of parts, and many of them you have little control over their production. Suppliers are also facing issues getting materials and people to perform the job of producing the parts, too. I see it often when checking the notes on backordered parts -- "Supplier facing workforce shortage/Supplier facing component shortages."

Option 1:
Take orders August 2. They sit until September or later until scheduling starts. More and more orders line up requiring scheduling logistics, all this while the confusion of new orders are entered on roll overs while trying to schedule old as well. BTW... Interest rates are locked in well below current prime on orders that won't deliver for months. On a vehicle that will likely sell out for the model year anyway

Option 2:
Push the order date. Scheduling for 22s is done. Interest rate lock is done. Less pile of old orders sitting around waiting for entering and complaints for unhappy people. Still have plenty of time to take orders before scheduling '23 starts.

Which of the two above look better? Is there really a surprise it moved?

The next Ford press release will be about MY22 orders that are scheduled for late August/Sept will be pushed back to November/December production. And those with constraints will be prolonged indefinitely.

I don't think this is lost on anyone, we all expect delays. The nonsensical part is Ford LAST WEEK changing the order date from Aug 15 to Aug 2. There was no supply chain event this week that would give Ford's plan a rattle. All of the issues you listed before, during, and after Ford was moving order dates forward, backward, and sideways.

All of that* was true before the date was moved. People would not be as surprised the date was pushed back 6 weeks, if Ford has not pushed the date forward by two weeks less than a week ago.

*all of that, save for the interest rate. So if someone said Ford was doing this strictly in response to the fed raising the key rate, which will raise all rates, which will make Ford Financial more money, they may have a point.

I am not surprised in the least. They don’t even have 2023 pricing figured out yet. Not even the dealers no and then the website builder must be updated. All this has to happen before buyers can place real orders.

on top of that dealers need a head start rolling over 22s to 23s.

I just hope they don’t start building 23s later. If I’m not getting built until October it better be a 23.
