Can you get a measurement with max width from steering wheel too seat back
Yes. Just to clarify you want the measurement from the steering wheel to the back of the seat, with the seat all the way back and steering wheel all the way forward?

yep, simple overall maintenance! Otherwise, what is the use of having a full size spare
I never rotated my spare into my tire rotation just because it didn't match my other wheels, plus I figured as long as I kept making sure the air pressure on it, I was good. What are the benefits of adding the spare into the regular rotation. How much does it lengthen the life of the tires overall? I'm guessing it must be good otherwise why do it?

I didn't do your calculations again, but it looks correct to me. There are multiple weight limits on any given vehicle that reduce the real towing capacity to less than advertised.
Another way your max tow rating gets devalued is elevation. Ford tells customers that for every 1000 feet above sea-level you have to reduce your tow capacity by 2%.
So if you are 5000 feet above sea level instead of 10,000lbs in an f-150, now you can only tow 9,000. That adds up quick going over a mountain pass.

Also, for the record... The more I look at other trucks the stupider these advertised ratings get. I don't remember what it was... But the numbers were something like tow capacity 12000lbs, and payload 1350lbs, so literally any weight in the truck including the driver made the tow rating go down. (assuming a 12.5% tongue load)
I'm going to consider myself very lucky that I never had any issues towing anything larger that a flatbed trailer that could hold a couple of motorcycles! I said that because I never took in account passenger weight and cargo weight. I just made sure the tongue weight wasn't more that my truck (F150) could handle and that the trailer could support two Harleys! Loaded up, secured everything and rolled!

So to summarize:

235s offered but not on the FX4 wheels.

225s are what come with the FX4 wheels.

215 is the spare.

Yikes.

Today, 8-24 a training Maverick was at Jim Click Ford in Tucson. I stopped by and took a lot of photos, which I'm posting unless forum admin says there are too many! Had a nice chat with the Trainer and will go tomorrow to see the same truck again and maybe take more photos as I think of what I missed or if anyone has a specific request. I was mostly interested in measurements and tried to get those request I've seen here on the forum. Anyway enjoy the pictures!

This has 200 less lbs payload capacity than a 2021 F150 Platinum. o_O

I just did a build, and P225 R17 A/T and P235 R17 A/T tires are offered with the Lariat FX4.

There seems to be no difference in price. I am not an off-road guy, and never have been, so I have no idea how much difference there is between the two widths. Either way (225 or 235) you get the same tire wall ratio, which is important as well.

Honest question from off-road ignorance: are widths and tire wall height equally important?

Rotating 5 tires gives more mileage in 2 ways, the wear on the tires are more even and the 5th tire gives you 20% more overall tire life. By not rotating you are throwing money away.

Another reason full size spare is that if you are on the hwy and get a flat you have to drive at a reduced speed if you have a donut spare, and get it changed quickly because who can drive at 45mph for an extended period of time? Also, your weight carrying capacity includes your tires. If you are in-city only it is not so much of a big deal because of the inherent speed limits.

highway driving, towing, or carrying a load not a good idea. Every truck I have had has had a full size spare. That tells me that Ford sees the Maverick as more of a car first, with payload and towing capability. The bulk of their advertising makes that very clear.

A GVWR of 5205lb WTF?? This is ridiculously low. I’d venture to say the hybrid is equivalent to this.

I’m confused on how this makes sense? it says it’s payload capacity is 1277lb. So this truck weighs 3928 lbs (5205 -1277). That is 250lbs heavier than the hybrid. So if we are towing 4000lb we can also have 877lbs (1277-400lb (10% of trailer)) of ppl and cargo in it. In a perfect world this would mean the total GCWR should be 3928 + 4000 + 877 = 8805lbs .
This is NOT Ford lists the GCWR as, per the towing brochure it’s 8145lb.
If we used this calc it would mean you could only have 217lb of people and cargo in the vehicle if you were towing 4000lbs(8145-4000-3928=217). That’s fucking unrealistic. I CANT TOW 4000lb WITH THE MAVERICK BECAUSE IM TOO FAT even though I bought the 4K tow pkg.
Please tell me I did the calculations wrong!

Let’s look at the 2021 Ranger lariat crew cab for comparison with a claimed 7500lbs towing.
GCWR 12400lbs, Max tow 7500 lbs, curb weight 4441 lbs.
12400 - 7500 - 4441= 459lbs available for people and cargo. Makes sense 2 people can sit in while the vehicle is at its max towing.

This makes me believe Ford need to advertise the towing capacity as 3750lb for the maverick. This actually pisses me off a little. The GCWR on the maverick should be higher. Just 100-200lbs

Don’t forget dry rot. I have no idea how many people I have tried to help over the years who simply let even a full size spare (though much more common with donuts) dry rot. That ‘spare’ is there, use it or lose it.

Tow calculator also says I’m too fat to tow 4000lbs with the maverick

I tried to get the 235 tires but even though you can add them on the Online Builder, the Dealership can't add them without changing the wheel to a non FX4 wheel in their ordering system....
